Osaka’s L’arc-en-Ciel becomes first Japanese band to headline Madison Square Garden

Excerpt:
Quote:
They’ve got no major radio play, no prime video exposure and no mainstream media trumpeting their fame and glory.

So how did L’Arc-en-Ciel, a Japanese band with a French name, become the first rock group from the Land of the Rising Sun to headline Madison Square Garden?

On Sunday, the four-man band from Osaka will play the storied 19,000-seat arena, which surprised even the show’s promoter. Three month ago, the company (AEG) booked the group into the smaller Theater in the Garden — capacity: 5,000. But so many tickets were sold, they were bumped up to the big room.

I was thinking of going but I never heard of their music.
And is so close from here like 30minutes away.
I'm so happy that they are the first japanese band that perfomed there.

Just about their entire discography is great imo. You really can't go wrong with L'arc although I would say their most recent album Butterfly is one of their weaker efforts. I would suggest starting with something like Smile, Real, or Awake.

I went to NYC yesterday and I thought it was cool to see advertisements for the concert. I saw an ad for it when I was coming out of the Rockefeller Center subway station on the way to Nintendo World, and a billboard near Midtown Comics. I took a picture to show my friend.
