30 Day Song Challenge ～Ayu ver.～

Hey all,

I thought it would be fun to bring the 30 Day Song Challenge from instagram to ahs as an ～Ayu ver.～.

I needed to change a few challenges. For example I changed Day 07, so that also everyone who's too young to drive could participate, or I changed Day 13 to 90s instead of 70s, or Day 18 from year to month, since I guess a lot of us are born before 1998. You get the drift.

I think this could be fun, because already going through Ayu's discography and trying to remember all songs with a colour in the title was at least fun for me and made me listen to all of them again. In case I didn't forget one.

So here is the challenge:

So here is my day 1: monochrome (I guess this counts in a wider sense). I always really loved the lyrics of this one and I think it got a great arrangement which works very well with the lyrics. I think it's a great and well crafted song and it is one of my favourites from her early days.

I love this idea! Now I also want to do a broader Asian music version of this in the Asian Music forums. But that can wait until after this 30 days is over.

Day 01: A song you like with a colour in the title

I would also say monochrome. I love the lyrics and melody, they're catchy and evergreen. The original arrangement is my favourite version, but I also love the live recording from PoM 2011, this song doesn't suffer in the transition into a different style. monochrome also gets extra points because it's one of the Ayu songs I can sing from memory, without looking at the lyrics or hearing the music.

(If we're going with a stricter definition of colour, my pick would be GREEN. It's dark, mysterious, and dramatic!)

I was thinking about that and at first I thought editing would be better, so that we won't "spam" too much. But then I thought it would be more fun if there were new posts so that we could also discuss our song choices and reply more easily to each other.
What does everyone else think? I will go with whatever the majority says. Or what do the mods think?

I think I would prefer new posts for every entry. I don't see the potential spam as a problem (I doubt it would escalate into actual spam, and isn't posting messages what the forum is for), and as you say, that would enable discussion and replies. I think that way it's also easier to actually see all the new entries (instead of having to go back and check the original posts). And I think it would be more fun to see the thread alive and active with new posts.

Day 01: A song you like with a colour in the title
I have to go with GREEN, it's so unique sound-wise and also it was the first single of hers I got to see being released (I knew ayu a bit after MW came out), so I still remember teasers, seeing the covers being released, being amazed at how gorgeous the PV was. Plus I really love the lyrics!

Day 01: A song you like with a colour in the title
Rainbow! I still remember when the Rainbow album came out, and listening to it non-stop everyday in my room. The excitement around having a first-press and access to the site that had Rainbow's melody, even if I couldn't submit lyrics for the project. Then when A Ballads came out with the final song, it was just perfection, and so different from her other music - it's so ethereal, the video is amazing, etc.

RAINBOW for Day 01. This song is so unique, and stands out from her discography. I love how it starts with a very soothing melody in the beginning, and changes later on in a different, catchy chorus. It is so smooth and perfect. All time favourite!

I've been in love with her past work recently, and I've been listening to ASFXX and LOVEppears so much, I'll choose this one. it was the first ASFXX song I fell in love with and it speaks to me very much.

Day 03: BLUE BIRD
that song screams summer to me.

Well Song 4 U comes immediately to my mind, I love the song and was used in Tales of Xillia 2, love the game, love the saga so the combo Ayu + Tales is just epic to me
