Official News about the wax figure
Be a Cover Star next to Ayumi Hamasaki at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong!
(Hong Kong - December 16, 2004) Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has proudly launched a new interactive experience - "Be a Cover Star" featuring the wax figure of the Japanese Superstar Ayumi Hamasaki. Guests to Madame Tussauds can now have the opportunity to relax in a photographic studio and to have their image changed in a minute before posing next to Ayumi Hamasaki. The 'Be a Cover Star' studio photographers can offer brightly coloured hair and jewelry mixed with 'nail art' for the girls while the boys can choose a sexy outfit for the photo-shoot session. The finished result? A photograph with you and Ayumi good enough for the front page of the Tussauds 'PopStar' magazine cover! Ayumi Hamasaki, the famous Japanese pop singer, has been looked upon as a leader not only in music, but also in fashion. Billed as the "guru of the fashionable young" by the media, any product associated with her becomes an instant hit and almost every Japanese teenage girl tries to dress and look like her. Her pretty face and sexy image catches the imagination of boys across Asia, while girls dance to her tunes and imitate her looks Ayumi has been committed to music since the age of sixteen when she launched her first album. Since then, she has been known for composing her own songs and writing the lyrics which reflect the mind-set of the "lost generation", a theme that has won the hearts of a growing number of fans. Her followers, who are constantly indulged with her enchanting voice, ensure that her albums stay top of the charts every year. Kelly Mak, Marketing and Business Development Manager at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong said, "We are delighted that Ayumi has been immortalized in wax as a reminder of her amazing talent. I am sure that Ayumi's fans will be excited to pose with her in a specially designed interactive setting of 'Be a Cover Star'. While the opportunity to just have fun by dressing up in sexy outfits and trying out the nail art will be a huge hit for all our guests". "This latest experience is particularly special because not only is Ayumi the first Japanese pop singer to grace Madame Tussauds Hong Kong but this is the first time that we have created a whole room as an interactive themed area for our guests to experience". The research and sculpting process, which was led by leading sculptor Jim Kempton, took six months to complete at a cost of HK$900,000. While the funky pink dress seen on the wax figure was actually donated by Ayumi Hamasaki and was previously worn by her in May 2004 when she won the "Best Live Performer Award" at the "Video Music Award Japan". By the looks of the article it sounds as if ayumi is in fact cooperating for the wax figure to be made. And like I had stated it was obvious that the wax museum has a LOT OF INTEREST in having a perfect looking ayu so the fact ayu and her staff want the figure to look better is not an obstacle but actually something that will benefit both parts. I just hope people stop blaming this and that because honestly, it is stupid ahahha Both parts are interested that the figure looks good.
There's no sources for the article though. Could you put the sources please elvis810?

And what's next ? a Theme park ?
I think this stupid. This is the perfect guide for "how to exploit Ayumi Hamasaki's image". That's my opinion. Let's keep Ayu as a singer !

The source is the Madame Tussauds HK site
http://www.madame-tussauds.com.hk/en..._2004_1612.asp This was kept rather quiet by Avex etc, I wonder why. I assume they weren't thrilled with the final result. Although even more doll-like, she does look better in the pictures on the site. You've gotta admit a photo with her would be cool... I want to see extepan hugging Ayu! |
