Seeking info on: Beni Arashiro

Yeah, yeah, I could check out her site (actually I just did...) but what do y'all think about her. I've only heard samples of her songs and wasn't overly impressed, but I have to say she speaks really good english. Was she born in the U.S like Hikki? Is she still spokesperson for Kose? Just who is she?

She's a young American-Japanese singer from the group Bishoujo Club 21. She's born in America indeed and she is the spokesperson for KOSE VISÉE (she replaced Ayu). She likes R&B and soul music, that's why you'll see a lot of those influences in her music. She debuted her solo career in 2004, with the single "Harmony". Her best selling single is "Here alone" selling about 25 000 (it was the opening of a drama). Her 1st album, "Beni" (which sold around 25 000 copies overall), was filled with soul and gospel tracks along with her pop-R&B single tracks. She released 5 singles and one album since she debuted. Her last single, released in June "Hikari no kazu dake GLAMOUROUS", was a dance R&B track not that much popular like her previous singles. She has a smooth voice but nothing spectacular actually... She's not very popular both in Japan and with worldwide J-Pop fans. IMO she's too.. ordinary to be an idol. I'm not a fan of hers.. but I really like Here Alone and her 4th single Miracle ^^

I really liked some of her songs, but her voice lack a lot to be interesting to me. She sounds uniterested while singing and her vocal skills aren't great either. Some singers can take boring songs and make them sound good because of the way they sing, with beni it's the opposite. She can make a good song sound boring. But I must admit, I loved her "here alone", liked "harmony" a lot. Her latest release was ok, but CALL ME BEEP me is the best track on that single.
In the Kosee CM she looked like she was really bored, so she's not a very good model either.

anyway , I'll have to agree with Annabelle and *Petit*. She has a lot of room for improvement as an artist and an idol , but she has potential

I really loved "Here alone"... but her other songs weren't that great. She does have potential, though.

I only heard Here alone and Harmony on the radio once each time, but I remember liking them enough that I looked her up. I have the PV of her latest single, and while she looks good in it, the song is...eh...definitely room for her to grow.

I forgot to mention that she's a model (though it's quite logical since she's with Bishoujo club 21!) No wonder she's the new spokesperson for VISÉE.
