BoA's Chinese accent

I've recently been wondering what some fluent Chinese speakers think about BoA's Chinese accent. I'm Korean and do not speak Chinese, so it's gratuitous of me to say if her accent is good or bad. What do you think?

I speak Chinese and all I can say is ... haha, she sounds ... Korean! I mean, yup? Haha, the Chinese versions of her song are seriously BARELY able to be understood unless you read the lyrics. I have absolutely no idea what she is singing about many times.

I guess the problem with her is that she doesn't do the 4 tones (hanyupinyin) of mandarin correctly. That's the main problem I suppose. For example, ai1 (ai in the first tone) can mean pain but ai4 (ai in the fourth tone) can mean love. And also to add on about her pronounciation, she just doesn't seem to get some words right?

She has a Korean accent when she speaks Chinese. I can upload a Taiwanese interview of her speaking a few Chinese(like I love you, etc).
In the Chinese version of Girls on Top, she pronounced 人 with a very hard "R" sound. But I find her Chinese more comprehendable than her English(altough both sounds intelligible at times).
But I've been wondering, does she have a good prounciation of Japanese or does she have an accent?

Japanese pronunciation is so simple, it's hard to have an accent, really. Plus, the 5 Japanese vowel sounds appear identically in Korean. When she sings, her "R" is often more like an "L", but a lot of native Japanese singers favor that as well when they sing. When she speaks, though, it's normal. She has no problems pronouncing the "ts" sound, which doesn't really appear in Korean. When she sings, her "wo" is sometimes a "vo", though -- I don't know where that comes from; there's no V in Korean, Japanese, or Chinese.

Her accent really only lies in that sometimes her syllables are very staccato and rhythmic, which I think is a very Korean thing. When Japanese people talk, though, they are very sing-songy, and BoA has that down.

I speak Mandarin and have to say that I can't understand BoA's Chinese half the time in her songs! I think it's sort of cute that she's trying the song in a language she clearly doesn't speak, though. ^_^

I don't think that BoA has very much of an accent in Japanese...it isn't really to apparent. Utada Hikaru on the other hand....American accent!

you can hear a little american accents occasionally on melody.'s music :O.....

but yea, to put it simply..BoA's Chinese is horrible, but I don't think it's around how her English used to be, her English now is good [yet not that great,] those vocal lesson in NY this year helped that bunches, you can so tell in GOT, her Japanese...I think she's amazing in it i think there's just a LITTLE Korean accent, SOMETIMES in it...it's really hard to tell ....ahh I can wait for her new J-Pop album

She's got a really strong accent, I'd say, when she sings chinese songs. I can only pick out a few words that I can seriously understand in the whole song. But I think she is quite brave in trying.

Heh a chinese here ^^ and I gotta say BoA's chinese is terrible.. I can't make out the words of her chinese version of her songs >_> I was quite shock to hear a rumour (or was it true?) that she's gonna release a full album in chinese.. X_X

With that sort of standard, I'm afraid it cannot sell. She needs to brush it up or just drop the idea. Being able to sing in both korean and japanese is good enough.

BoA did have a really strong accent when she sung in Japanese (Valenti, Amazing Kiss), and her Japanese was a bit hard to understand at first, but she is getting better nowadays.

Yeah, i was wondering if BoA had a good chinese accent...since i'm not Chinese, Korean or Japanese. But i have listened to both Chinese and Japanese songs, and i think her accents are very bad...i mean, the japanese i could make out but her Chinese is horrible.

Another Chinese here^^ I found it pretty hard to understand BoA's Chinese. It sounds...garbled. For example, in her girls on top mandarin version, it took me quite a while to figure out that she's speaking Chinese (I didn't know it was the mandarin version before). Her English is accented, but I can understand her pretty well. I don't speak Japanese, but listen closely her Japanese sounds more foreign and garbled than say...Ayu.
