Wow O_O Ayu looks really young there; might be from a movie she was in back-in-the-day. I don't know anything more than that though. :-\

Well, if you could tell us which post you got the pic from, it'd make it easier to ID the movie that the frames are capped from. I went to the site that is tagged on the pic but there are so many posts, I don't feel like going through them all now (and who knows if the pic is from months back?)

I'll do more research when I have free time to go through their archives.

I can ID it.

It is from the TV show Miseinen and yes Ayu looks really young in that show. (the title does mean underage afterall) The show was aired in 1995. Ayu plays a ballet dancer who gets impregnated by her boyfriend - those pics are from one of the ballet practice scenes.

Yep. Pretty much every role she played as a child was very "un-idol like" and very mature for her age. Probably because of her life experiences, she was able to relate to darker characters better I'm thinking. I imagine her modeling agency would have wanted her to do the more wholesome typical roles that are expected of Idols - perhaps that was something that contributed to her being dropped from the agency.
