Charlotte Perelli(Sweden) - Hero
In Sweden we have a song contest called Melodifestivalen every year, and it has been going on for 50 years( yeah it's been going since 1958
![]() This year Charlotte Perelli participated with the song Hero, and won. Many call the song old-fashioned and think that it won't place high in the Eurovision Song Contest, in which she will represent Sweden. They also think that she is too old(she has already won the Eurovision Song Contest once, in 1999. She is in her early 30s, is married and has two sons) to represent Sweden. ![]() So I thought why not ask for a second opinion from those who don't know who she is. Is the song too old-fashioned and is she too old? This clip is from the performance in the final of Hero. The songs are sung by the artist live(no vocal recordings, the only thing that is recorded is the music), and then a jury and the viewers give their votes and points. She was the jury's favorite, but she only got the second highest points by the viewers... ![]() http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4q...lli-fina_music What do you think? Is the song too old-fashioned and is she too old?

I think it's one of the best songs in Eurovision this year. I've never seen SO many crappy songs in the contest ever, it's downright embarrassing. I can count the songs of quality on one hand. This contest is slowly dying, unfortunately. I've watched it since 2001. I hope she does well, I really like the song.
In my opinion, Charlotte only has one competitor, Ani Lorak from Ukraine. Last edited by zoomzoom; 24th March 2008 at 11:07 PM. |

^ Yea, it's stuff like the Irish one, which makes fun of the contest, but ok, we gotta have wackyness in the contest to make it interesting. A lot of the other countries just have low quality songs. Boring, cheesy, embarrassing.

I think her song this time (which I haven't heard before you posted the link), is fresher and she's def not too old, at least compared to her winning song which was a terrible rehearse of abba.
![]() I don't really think the ukrainian song brings any interesting musically either, it's ok, but nothing other than run of the mill eastern european pop. I'd like to see something like ruslana (WILD DANCES) or karolina (mojot svet)did, I think those type of songs bring something new to the contest without straying away from the traditional image of contest. I must admit I loved silvia night as well though. THere are a lot of blah songs every year, it's no suprise. Last edited by *Petit*; 25th March 2008 at 12:36 AM. |

I liked Silvia Night too, she was hilarious and was mocking the contest in a funny way. Her barbie dance moves and on stage costume change really showed what the contest is about a lot of times.
I know each year you got good songs and some not so good. This year the good/bad is like 5/35 though. The quality is usually much higher. |

I haven't heard any of the other Eurovision songs for this year, but I really like Charlotte's song.
