Official "Fan Scrapbook to Ayu" Thread

I figured with the other tiny threads floating around, we can have just one, main thread where we can discuss all the ideas, volunteers, and whatnot. =)

As of right now, here's the plan: A lot of people really agree to this idea and want to help out. Our goal is to make an Ayumi scrapbook, filled with letters and pictures (and whatever else) from her fans from around the world. The letters can be however long you want them to be, but should also be written in your native language. (Unless you choose to write in English or Japanese; I think she'd love seeing a book of letters from her fans from all over the world speaking many different languages.)

Now that we have a fair-sized amount of people willing to help out here at AHS, we need to start spreading the word to other Ayu forums (AyuChina, AHN, etc) / networking site groups (Friendster, Myspace, Facebook, Mixi, etc).

We need volunteers for each site that decides to help out. The more people that want to participate, the more volunteers we'll need. I recommend that if you want to volunteer, you help out with one site. (We'll probably get a lot of people wanting to have a letter in the scrapbook.) We'll also need a head volunteer, one who is willing to gather all the other volunteer's work, put it into the scrapbook, and send it to Japan.

Each volunteer (or set of volunteers; per forum / site) should gather a list of e-mail addresses of the people who want to help out, then, from either their own e-mail address (or one set up for this) should send out an e-mail, telling those recipients the address to send the letter to.

With each letter sent, it's recommended that you also provide your own sheet protector. (A package of those is usually less than $1.) Also, donations are recommended. It won't be cheap sending this scrapbook to Japan. (Ayu has so many fans worldwide, I wouldn't be surprised if we get letters from four-six continents.)

I will go ahead and set up a list of sites and volunteers who will go and promote this idea at those sites. If you want to become a volunteer, please reply to this and tell me what site you wish to help out at.

AHN - polka-dot-jewel
AHS - the angel song, Draggi
hamasaki.de - Draggi

We can definitely make this work!!

I'll post a better reply tomorrow morning (it's 1 am for me now haha). But I definitely want to be a volunteer who will receive the letters...I could probably accept the stuff from this forum since I'm more active here. I feel bad if I start a new thread (how many threads like this are there now? XD) but maybe I can set up my separate email tomorrow morning and tell all AHSers who are interested to send their confirmation my way, and then I'll figure out the location they need to send it to and reply back with that.

So sleepy...Gotta go to bed now...I'm really excited for this! But man...so tired.

^ lol It's 1AM here, too. I should probably head to bed, too, seeing as that I was writing some incomprehensible sentences in another thread. XD

But I did add your name to the list...and, wait to start another thread until things actually get started. We're still in the early stages; we don't need to rush things. (BTW, I think this is the 4th thread concerning all of this. XD) Go ahead and set up your e-mail, but I would also wait to give that out. Plus, this thread is HUGE - you might need some help with this if a lot of people from here decide they want to be a part of this.

If someone is willing to help me (as I'm a student, first and foremost), I will oversee the MySpace section of this. Plus, with my friends (hopefully!), we can help decorate the final product before we ship it to Japan. I think it would be easier (may be cheaper) if you (Polka Dot Jewel), assuming that you're the head of this, send it here to Hawaii, then I send it to Avex.

-------

EDIT: Moderators, if you could please sticky this thread, it would be great so there's always attention toward this thread. Please and thank you!!!!

Also, to those writing letters, this is a courtesy to AYUMI; remember that this is not for yourself. I think it would be more irritating to see tons of "audition" letters than actual letters written to her.

What I'm trying to say is you should keep talking about yourself to a smaller portion of the letter (introductions and minimal back-story: how you got interested, your favorite song, support, comments, etc.), than to have an in-depth life story, and not that much to Ayumi.

I'm not trying to be mean, it's just my point of view on what this scrapbook should really be.

"constructive criticism"?

I thought we're supposed to be showing our undying support? surely criticism (of any sort) is not appropriate in this book?

If anything I'd suggest trying to keep the messages to be messages of support, sure put what you want about how she's influenced you/your life, but don;t rattle off your whole life story....?

[]Also: Make sure it's clear that people can send the "messages" to us by email too, and that they'll be printed out and stuck in, if they want too, that'll be a lot quicker and easier for people to do, and you'll probably get a LOT more messages, from even minor fans, just cos it'll only take 1 minute to do...alot less hassle than actually writing/making something and posting it, and it's free to email of course.

Also, I don't think people will like giving out their email addresses for a confirmation email...and it seems to much trouble....

I suggest setting up a new "dummy" account with hotmail or gmail or whatever, and just allowing people to send whatever they want to say to that email immediately, give it out in all the announcement messages we put in all the forums.

Same for the actual letters, set up a "safe" dummy address, so you don't have to give out your real address, and so you can give it out freely in all the announcments.

a dummy address should be easy enough to set up, a P.O box or something.

I just think that we should make it as convenient as possible for the fans to get the messages to us, otherwise many won't bother, and we want as many as possible right?

make sure it's all in place (addresses/plans etc) before you start announcing it.

And don't expect too much from this project, I suggest viewing it more as an AHS thing, and any others are a bonus. don't aim to represent the entire global ayu fan base, but the more the better

also, the other forums, especially big ones like ayuchina, will probably rather do something themselves...

anyway, good luck!

p.s use ONE email address for ALL emailed messages, other wise the organisation get's too complicated

lol, it kind of just slipped in and I wrote it down without too much thought. but yeah.

I agree with dummy addresses, but I think it would be more heart-felt if it were handwritten. Unless you're completely convinced your handwriting is that messy, I would recommend to handwrite it. Even if it's a short note on a scrap piece of paper, or two pages full of stuff, it's something much more warmer than print-outs...

And to be honest, if they do need to e-mail it, how hard would it be to respond to a confirmation of their message? That's all I would expect confirmation of e-mail addresses to be: to make sure it's not fake.

This would be a great opporunity to meet other fans though, so I think a collaboration would be nice if everyone is up for it. I know I am, but if others really feel like they want to do their own, I would respect that too. Just... it would be nicer to have one BIG scrapbook for a majority of the crowd than many SMALL scrapbooks for each community. With one big book, it shows unity...

that's what i wanted to say too..
let's do this project mainly with AHS..
and as a plus a few smaller forums..
i really think that ayuchina and those shoudl think about this alone..

so..
i thought about it..
i'm a well known member of a small german forum.
if it is okay for you i will collect all mails that are coming from this forum.
the forum is called "hamasaki.de"
so if you agree to this idea please add me to the list above ( ^ _ ^ )

I think we should think about some email addresses a bit later..
first, we have to get a clear view about what will be going on if we stat this project.
and i think there has to be a time limit set ~
so that everyone who wants to do something knows when it has to be finished.

I think you should decide if you write in your native language or english/japanese...
i really don't think that ayu will translate all the letters...
it would be much easier for her just to read them in english/japanese.

and concerning the letters...
it would be better not to say "oh please come to XXXXX" and such things
this is not really supporting ayu..
it's much more important to show her your true feelings and what you really think.
this is the thing that will make her come overseas sometimes by her own..
if she can feel what we keep in our hearts and minds she really will decide the right way..
believe me..

so..
any other ideas ???

perhaps everyone who collects letters should talk together VIA MSN or ICQ
if possible...
a few things could be discussed directly..
and faster than in this forum..

EDIT:
@ Daisuki: Yeah that's what i think too..
perhaps we really should say it has to be handwritten..
and your totally right concerning the unity...
i think she won't read any fanletters from overseasy if it would be 2 or 3..
but if there would be tons of messages i think she will read this...
because she wants to know why there are so much..

We should do this! but... uhm,
I don't really get the thing of "how to send or messages" should we just scan our handwritten messages (if your scanner is working) and then what...?

if you limit people to hand written, which then needs to be posted etc....you willl miss out on a LOT of people who would happily write a message of support in a quick email (without any confirmation hassle?), but just wouldn;t bother to write one out, make it pretty, get an envelope, go to post office etc. I know it's not that much effort, but trust me, a LOT of people who would send an email wouldn;t do it....so you have to choose, quality and prettiness? or quantity? the message will still carry the same meaning....

you could do two sectoins to the scrapbook, one for hand written at the front, and then all the cut out printouts at the back. still cut them out indivdually (and scrappily), and glue them haphazardly, to keeep the feel of a scrap book, but it just opens this up to about 1000% more people....

as for the other forums, i'd say it's fine to post about this project there, just don;t expect too much from them.

okay...
this is a great idea...
so everyone who collects latters has to get one email address where everyone can send his or her email message..
and of course the collector has to collect the handwritten letters..
that's a great idea..
so...
how about talking via MSN or ICQ?

EDIT: I will be away for some hours..perhaps....
so donÄt get worried..
i hope i will be back very soon ^^

I was talking to AyuHamasaki01 now..
and there is a good resolution..

if you want to send handwritten messages you can either send them with post to your representant
or scan them and send them via email to your representant..

or you can send a normal email..

these are the 3 ways of sending ^^

EDIT:
I can do a part of AHS work too~
collect letters from members here too..
i'm happy to do this..
so it would be okay ^^
