Destiny Line: The Official Leah Dizon Thread II
The last thread reached over 500 posts so here's the new one to satisfy all of your Leah Dizon needs

Due to nerves and/or other reasons, Leah was pretty upset and was even crying. No matter what, I can sympathize with her. People get nervous and because she's in front of everybody when she's nervous, it doesn't make her any less human. True, she's had time to get over stage fright / initial nervousness but sometimes, you just can't help it. So I feel bad for Leah but hope that next time will be even better ![]() Let's start discussing Leah news and hoping for that new single to be out around March

"Write" o shite? She doesn't even know how to say to write?
She doesn't have a dictionary? WTF she's on the computer. Someone please point her to thejapanesepage.com and jisho.org. *sigh* |

haha, maybe she was in a rush when she was writing the message. You never know...
Also, off-topic: I actually use both of those cites to learn some Japanese. haha |

They are good sites! It's weird that she doesn't know that verb though, I thought it was very basic, but then again who knows that they teach her first. Probably important stuff that relates to the CDs she releases etc.

yes, I really like those cites. Especially thejapanesepage.org. It wasn't until just now that I realized how to use the other website so thanks for pointing it out
![]() But I'm sure over time, her Japanese will get better and her nerves will get stronger. Go Leah! I'm rooting for ya! Truthfully, I didn't think the Kohaku performance was bad. She did miss a some notes here and there but the only other thing that struck me was that the expression of being nervous and a bit unhappy came across in her face while she was performing. But there were moments when she smiled and it was adorable. Anyway, what are you hoping the new single will be like? I'm personally hoping for maybe a pop song that's cute with a B-side like "Are You Feelin' For Me?" Hopefully, we'll get a single announcement soon like everybody else is releasing something! |

Wow, "to write" is one of the first verbs you learn when taking elementary Japanese.
And she doesn't know how to say "cleaning" either? 書いて and 掃除して, respectively, are quite rudimentary words. Oy vey.And I'm going to sound like such a heartless jerk for saying this, and I'm sorry, but it's hard to sympathize with her for being nervous on stage while singing when I've already seen how confident she is in front of a camera with barely any clothes on. How bad was the Kouhaku though? I'd like to see. Edit: Ok I just saw it. Lol @ her outfit. At least I heard her over the music this time...albeit, she was still offkey. Ayu wasn't spectacular either but at least she was solid on the verses if not the chorus. Leah was just bad at everything

Haha. At least She is trying 0w0! Its good she is following her dream. People generally can learn a language if they stick to it, and it helps her that she is actually living where its the main language.
I felt bad for her when she forgot her lyrics though ;_;

wasn't she crying after the performance?
because right before AKB48 started singing (the girls before leah) the ones who were being interviewed were the oshiri kajiri mushi guys. i don't even remember seeing that part when she cries o---o; someone point me to where it was~?

Well, to be quite honest, I felt so sad for her. At that point, she seemed like this good-hearted innocent girl who's luck turned it's back on her. She did try, I could see it, but it wasn't good at all.
I don't know, it seemed like Shokotan got so big of a boost out of Leah's failure that she rocked it. [Or maybe I was just so happy to hear some good vocals after the disaster...]

Now that I think about she could have lipsynched and concentrated more on her dancing, she dances pretty well. Or she could have had a better back-up isntrumental maybe? That way her voice wouldn't sound too terrible. >.<

It makes much more sense for her to have just worked on her vocals and her Japanese before making such a big deal out of herself (okay, her record label/management is responsible for this too). She'd be able to express herself more since she'd not only know how to speak the language (and it doesn't even have to be fluent; just decent...which is more than I can say for her now), she'd also sing with a certain degree of competence. Look at BoA--she made sure she had a good grip on Japanese before debuting. Ayu wasn't feeling confident in her lyrics or her singing and so she went to New York to work on both. I'm not saying Leah has to go anywhere, but she should overall think before doing.

She can't just get better over night though. I hope she is taking vocal lessons and we can see a progression in her voice like we did with Ayu. That will really help her in the long run and people will be like "Oh she got better! Let's go listen to her new single." Still, the company that manages her apparently thought she was good enough to start now. If she keeps working on her language and vocal skills, then it's ok - but we need to wait a little bit to see improvement since it doesn't happen overnight.

It was rather reckless of the label (and Dizon as well; she's not a child, and I'd like to think she has SOME control over her career) to just shove her out there with such little experience and letting everything ride on her looks alone. So far it's been moderately successful, but I think she's starting to realize that lack of actual merit is starting to blow up in her face. I do feel sort of sorry for her, but honestly, if she has any instinct at all she'd realize it's time to step up her game a little. She does have potential; she's not a bad dancer and seems hardworking. I do think it's wrong that someone such as her can get by on such superficial merits when more talented artists can't sell half of what she does. However, I suppose that's more her management's fault than it is hers.

But I do think her management is at fault; I am afraid they shoved her out to make a quick buck, and aren't thinking about her in the long term. She might disappear after 2 more failed singles and another failed album if her company doesn't spend any time and effort on her; she is exotic and cute and that makes a quick buck but doesn't last long. =[ What do you think? Do you think they will actually try to improve her or just dump her? I hope she can continue along, but you never know, especially with her voice and language skills needing some fine-tuning. =[ |
