Korean Johnny's ?

http://arashi.vox.com/library/post/a...ow-arashi.html

""It seems Johnny's has been encouraged by Arashi's popularity in Korea therefore they will be seriously entering the Korean market. A Johnny's Korean company will open their doors shortly."

wow I don't know what to say about this :O

Somehow I don't think Johnny's style boybands would work in Korea. Korean boybands are way trendier, with edgier music. Look at Big Bang vs. NEWS, or SHINee vs. Hey! Say! Jump.

I don't think it is wise move, Korea already suffocated with boy group with different styles. if Johnny's groups are popular in some counties just let them tour there, it is enough that way

Wow, I never realized that but its so true~ And dw I'm a fan of both fandoms so I'm not being biased but yeah, if you compare SHINee's style with HSJ...now lets not even go there...

It'll be interesting. I wonder if JE people would have as much success as DBSK did?...

korean boybands are too western (IMO ) compared to JE. it's 2 completely different styles.

i myself prefer JE, though, over any other boyband company

Korea's music industry is seriously overcrowded right now. They don't need any more boybands, and for the record, Korean boybands >>>>>> JE boybands

If Arashi is popular in Korea, I don't see why a Johnny's-type band can't work there. You all say that they like edgy boybands yet Arashi has a pretty strong fanbase in Korea and they're far from edgy. And yes, the Korean boyband scene is crowded but I think it's OK for some new ones since there's only like 5 good boybands anyways. The rest are terrible!

Seems like I kinda misunderstood the news before. xD Oh well...

If Johnny's wants to branch out, why not give it a try? If they take the risk, yet it won't work out, it's their business. If Arashi is popular in Korea then doesn't that mean they don't only have a need for edgy boybands? And why limit the music scene to edgy boybands anyway? There should be variety. Who knows? Maybe Johnny's will approach the Korean market in a different way.

Well.. Johnny entertainment is already so popular in countries like Japan, Asia and Korea.. So branching out in the korean market means that they see a potential market there.. So it's good i guess for the fans and it also will boost the music industry there...

What are you talking about? Arashi's not "popular" in Korea, they have a small, dedicated, amount of fans, just like a lot of Japanese artists there. They sell next to nothing in Korea. It wouldn't even make sense for a Japanese artist or group to make the move to a MUCH smaller market like Korea, where they wouldn't even make half the money they already do at home.

Unless they actually get some Korean boys, they won't even make half of what they could in Japan.

the market in korea compared to japan is very tiny. it wouldn't even be worth it for je to expand into korea.

Hip-Hoppy is what he meant, I'm sure.

Considering that he said that JE is more pop then it would only make sense for him to be talking about another genre of music.

I've listened to both, and I must say I prefer Korean boybands to Japanese boybands. Arashi may have a small but sizable fanbase in Korea, but I doubt they'll reach the mainstream success of DBSK or Big Bang. Johnny bands are primarily image-based, whereas Korean boybands have something else to offer (voice, style, etc.). Plenty of image-based Korean boybands have debuted, and so far, none of them have succeeded without an extra something.

Please, Mr. Johnny. Just stick to Japan.

I agree, JE's bands tend to look great (besides KAT-TUN guys, as they're plain ugly XD no offense to their fans), and I wouldn't even try NEWS's music if I haven't noticed how good looking they are. Sure they ocassionally make a song i can listen to. It's hard for non-korean artists to gain huge success in korea, although there are exceptions (sweetbox's BEST OF was #1 2 years in a row and she sold more than 200k copies), but arashi is far from there. Even people like Hikki, Ayu, Madonna who are way more famous (outside Japan) tend to sell less than 2k in a month there. JE should quit making music and start making gay porn ^^ (and please let NEWS be the first to do it XD) jk ^^
