When are first-press limited editions out of stock?

I'm really not sure if this is in the right forum, I would've posted it in the Enquiries section, but since it's for Ayu questions, I didn't...

Well, my question is this: when do first-press, limited edition albums usually go out of stock? I'm wanting to get a limited edition CD - that comes with a photobook, it's the new SCANDAL album - that comes out in October, but I'm wanting to get it for Christmas, possibly.

When do these limited editions usually go out of stock? Should I have it pre-ordered?

Any help would be much appreciated, I know a lot of you guys buy Japanese CDs and possibly the limited editions too, and I've never bought any J-pop CDs as of yet. So I'm not sure how fast the limited press would go, really.

And again, really really sorry if this isn't in the right forum.

it usually depends on the artist. the more popular they are, the more likely the limited editions will go out of stock faster. for example, take Arashi at the moment. you will need a lightning fast internet connection and credit card at hand once the items are on stock on the website.

i know SCANDAL is a relatively new artist, right? i think there will be less of a stock issue for them. it is possible the limited editions will still be there for Christmas, but as a warning, it's not guaranteed. i say (from past experience) to order as soon as possible. it will take the stress off completely and you don't have to go looking at 5 different websites all the time just to see if they have it.

good luck, i hope my post helped somewhat.

Uh...well I guess you could email HMV or YesAsia and ask if they have any 1st press left...if you buy from CDJapan though, they have this convenient display that says either the first press is sold out or still available...and if still available how many copies left. I suggest you pre-order though...they usually sell out fast if the artist is popular enough

If someone is buying the CD for you for Christmas, I suggest they buy it now and just store it away till Christmas. If you're getting Christmas money to buy it, then I dunno. If it's not in stock anymore I go to ebay. I got Kuu's Best ~first things~ 2CD+DVD First Press on there for about 25 bucks.

Ooh, thank you guys so much!! I'll have to check in with my mom and see if she's willing to help me out on pre-ordering it.

I don't want to take any chances~ >_<

^Yeah, I would say pre-order it. They will sell out as fast as other stock, only no more will be ordered. Even First-Press of sifow albums are sold out!

it really depends on which artiste you support at the end of the day which contributed to this

like now for ARASHI , the limited edition of their single(s) can get sold out within less than 2 hours + the moment email updates are being sent out from CDJapan

the relatively popular artistes , it will take a few days or even months for limited editions of their stuff to get out of print

on CDJapan's site , you can see whether the limited edition or 1st press items are still in stock or not . For YesAsia & HMV Japan , you have to email them on that before you preorder/order anything

But I have seen times where YesAsia/CDJapan magically stocks up first press editions of a singer's album... XD

yeah & it depends

like last night , I saw the CD + DVD (deemed limited edition by Sony BMG Japan) of YUI's It's all too much / Never say die being restocked back for preorder on CDJapan's site

I know for YesAsia , they tend to jack up the prices for 1st press stuff after a while @_@

Yay, just finished pre-ordering it on YesAsia. =D

We used mom's paypal, and supposedly the payment went through, but I'm a little confused as to what's in the confirmation email:

Your order will be processed as soon as we have verified your PayPal payment; the estimated availability information shown during checkout will only apply after your payment has been verified.

Please remember that when you are making payments through PayPal you must:

1. Include your <ORDER NUMBER> on the subject line.
2. Include the recipient's email address as 'account (at) yesasia.com'.

We didn't do any of this, we were redirected to Paypal and she just entered her information, and it went through. O_o But this email makes it sound otherwise.

Not really sure what to make of it. o__O

^ If the order's been placed/visible in your account, you're fine. They won't take the money until they actually ship it out to you though, so bear that in mind.

I don't think you have to worry about this.

Every time I shop at YesAsia, I'm redirected to PayPal as well and have never had to manually enter anything. As long as you see that you're paying for "YesAsia shopping cart" or something (or anything that indicates you're buying something from YesAsia) at PayPal you should be fine.

Actually, with YesAsia, when you pay with PayPal they take the money right away. It's only when you use a credit card that they will charge you later. Even if you use a credit card through PayPal, YesAsia will still take the money right away since it's technically a PayPal payment.

^ Thank you so much for this info, too! Yeah, I got home today afterschool and my mom said she checked her bank account (she's using debit for paypal, I guess?? I dunno much about money ) and the money was already withdrawn. So for sure it's taken care of.

I was worried it didn't go through correctly.

But thank you all so much for this! >_<

^ You should also be aware that YesAsia's price might change as the release date gets closer. If the price does change and the price goes up, you might have to make another payment to cover the difference, or if the price goes down, they might credit the difference to your account.

I'm not sure exactly what happens when the price changes, since it's never happened to me, but I do know that YesAsia does adjust their prices from time to time - usually to offset the cost of their "free shipping".

^ that & also it depends on the rarity of the 1st press limited editions that they have on hand too

I was told that for KAT-TUN's DON'T U EVER STOP , because it had 3 limited editions for the single , its inital price that YesAsia was selling at was something like US$10 each

after a while , the price jacked up all the way to US$30 each @_@ & all 3 LEs still went outta print despite the crazy price(s)

so you have to be careful & act fast on this , especially if you want to secure something that's of 1st press quality

actually, if the price do goes up, they won't charge you extra.

i remember ordering something from yesasia when the info was just out. then after a while, there's a first press poster included, and the price of the cd went up. but yesasia did not harge me the extra price, i only paid the first pricing, which i remember was like $8 cheaper

Oi, I'm so confused now. TT___TT If I do have to pay more, I'll be in deep trouble. My mom won't like this one bit, and she didn't like the idea of buying internationally in the first place.

So, which is it? Will I get charged extra if it goes up? >_<

Contact YesAsia and ask them directly. You can do that through the order. Like, there should be a part where it says "contact us regarding this order".

Looks like the answer is on YesAsia's site:

Quote:
Q: Will my pre-order be affected if there is any adjustment in the product price?
A: If the price increases, the price of your pre-order remains unaffected.

If the price decreases, the price of those orders which have not yet shipped out will be adjusted to a new lower price.
Link: http://www.yesasia.com/us/customer-s...on-answer.html

I would think that they'd only ask for more money if the price increase is significant. And even in that case, rightfully they should ask if you still want the item rather than making you pay more, so I think you're cool either way.

^ Whew, thanks so much. @_@ I'm just really nervous about this, cuz first off it's my first time buying something from another country online (even though eBay is a lot scarier/something to be more cautious about), and....yeah. I'm pre-ordering something pretty costly, and pre-ordering at all. >_<

But, as long as there's no huge chance I'll have to pay more...then I have nothing to worry about at the moment.
