I had a similar thread some months back about "classic rock," but that was much more broad...this time I'm wondering where people hear specifically 60s rock influences. I love making theme playlists, lol
![]() For me, the most striking songs in this sense are girlish, Who... "Across the Universe", Key, and to some degree Heartplace. What does everyone think? |

The only one that reminds me really of classic rock is probably Girlish and the A Ballads version of A Song for Xx. She has a lot more songs that are reminiscent of 80s rock power metal stuff.

I don't think any of her songs sound like 60's rock...I could see someone in the 60's probably doing HANABI, but yeah...

What does the 60s and 80s sound like anyway? I'm not at categorising music with its era XD

^ Hm, I'll try to explain '60s, but I can't think of how to properly do so, so bear with me, lol. It's a real poppy sort of rock (all music around then was very poppy, hah). Bouncy, even. XD And it has kinda light vocals, or nothing like you'd find in metal or even hard rock. And it's not as intense as a lot of modern rock. I guess the closest you could come to it would be modern alternative rock? It's not the same, but, I think, it has the same feel... As for eighties, techno, synthy stuff all the way! Beeps, clicks, distorted vocals--all that kind of stuff. Only the really rocky bands left out most techno sounds in the eighties, but it was still there a little. If you want to listen to "modern" '80s sound, pick up any song with "Eurobeat" in the title, hah.

Yeah, I know there aren't many of her songs like this, but I was curious to see if there's something I'm missing that would be appropriate for my playlist.
SEASONS "2003 ReBirth Mix" is subtle and not quite the right genre to sound retro, but I think it meshes well with this type of song anyway. |

My definition may differ from yours but I'd say Endless Sorrow (gone with the wind version) and flower garden
