Haha, I kinda remember him from those concerts. I didn't know he wanted to become a woman. Oh, that's good for him though if that's what he wanted.

and you are right. the correct pronouns to use are ALWAYS the pronouns of the sex a transitioning person is presenting as. basically, if she is dressing as a woman, you should always refer to her using female pronouns, regardless of where she is in her transition. doing otherwise is rude.

So, Hide is a girl now? :0 Nice!^^ Good for her!

During Best Fiction or Play Tour, can't really remember, he did some of Namie's choreography during the dancers introduction. I believe it's easier to spot him/her at Namie's concert.^^

He was with Namie for at least two concerts. This is unexpected, but if he's happier now that's great

Can everybody please just stop using male pronouns because if she's a woman then everyone should respect it and stop using "he/him" while taking about her.

I don't think it's disrespectful to continue using "he/him". The way I understand it, the issue is usually on the physical side rather than in social reaction. Continuing the use of "he" for somebody who, biologically, still is male, is in no way showing disrespect unless it is used in a way making disrespect clear from the context, it's just factual. "She/Her" is simply a new additional possibility. I can definitely understand the person preferring the "new" gender pronouns of course, but the old ones are still correct, it's in no way an insult.

Actually, to the person, it can be understood as a insult, as it can be seen u r refusing to treat them by their gender psycological gender, the gender they needed to go by a big treatment and depending on the country, a lot of law-related issues to archieve. If its possible, always call people by the gender they identify with.

But I admit I find it hard using male pronouns to refere to the before-the-surgery Hide.

It actually is extremely disrespectful in the trans-gendered community to refer to a trans-gendered woman as "he/him" or as a male in any way. (I have a few very close friends who are trans-gendered.) It may not make sense because they are physically male, but trans-gendered people would not be becoming the other gender if they felt being male was a fair representation of who they are on the inside. When you call a trans-gendered woman "he/him" you are disrespecting who they are as a person and using their physical gender to discriminate.

So, please, for the sake of not coming across like a complete idiot again, do your research before you use a technicality to defend your behavior. You wouldn't appreciate if I used the statistically poor English skills of foreigners in the United States as a technicality to defend not wanting to deal with them because they can't communicate with me very well. And you wouldn't want me to use the statistical reality that women cost society more money over their lifetime between health care and regulatory preventative measures as a technicality to defend being rude to women. You may see a "man" but that person does not identify as a "man," or vice versa. You shouldn't use some crappy biological excuse to deny a person their freedom to be respected for who they are. It's ideas like this that contribute to all the bad in the world because it ultimately only suits your interests to call someone—who obviously identifies their self as a woman—a man, and causes suffering for others.

EDIT: I apologize for being very abrasive about this topic, but I spent a year at college organizing trans-gendered awareness after I met my first trans-gendered friend, wrote a 7-page research paper on her experience, and quickly realized how much discrimination someone like her deals with... in everything from employment to relationships to friends and often family. We're talking about people who feel so strongly that they cannot identify with their gender they are risking their own independence—their ability to provide for themselves—their reputation, and even the reality there is no possible way to undo the effects of hormone treatments or surgical procedures. Many of these procedures seem exciting to us on the outside but are actually extremely scary to go through. There are still some potentially fatal side effects associated with hormone therapy; some people still develop leukemia from treatments.

When you see Hide now, realize that she made this choice realizing she will probably never be able to make a steady income again in her lifetime. She will likely never have a long-term relationship due to trans-gender stigma. It's extremely likely she will be discriminated against when she goes to the store, to a restaurant, even if she decides to go to college. It's likely there are members of her family that she will never be on good terms with again because of this choice. And almost guaranteed that she has at least one close friend who has turned their back on her since she chose to become a woman.

So imagine how strongly Hide feels that she cannot identify herself as "male." Wrap your head around how difficult and life-changing a decision like this is... she's practically stopping life support on the person she has been her entire life up to this point... and then try to muster up an excuse to deny referring to Hide as anything but "Ms." If you can't see how unbelievably disgusting it would be to look her in the face and say "Sir", you are the true definition of an *******.
