Ayu mentioned in Kerrang magazine in the UK!

I was browsing through magazines in a store during my break at college and I was looking through Kerrang...there, were stood three japanese guys (I can't remember the name of the band!) and they're apparently making a US debut soon then when I turned the page there was a small section and it red "Top in Japan" and I could not believe my eyes when I saw, Glay, Hitomi, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Mr. Children! My jaw hit the floor I stood in awe for a second then I started jumping up and down like a bunny on prozac my friends were like. "o_O wtf"

The little bit wrote about her was something like (I didn't buy the magazine so I'm just going off the top of my memory here!)
"She's bigger than godzilla, imagine Britney Spears, Christina, and Beyonce's yearly earnings times 10. No, seriously."

So woohoo for Ayu being mentioned in the UK! XD

P.S. the lil' section on Mr Children was rather funny. "It's name might not be to appealing to the pedophile obsessed europe." O_o; Lol.

that comment would definitely not go over well here in the US.. there'd be the politically correct people going ape!!!

that's really cool though that Ayu got mentioned! Does she really earn that much over Britney, Christina and Beyonce? o.o

What is that magazine about exactly? I've never heard about it.

But thank god, instead of being the Japanese Britney like I usually hear, she is better THAN ALL THREE OF THEM PUT TOGETHER!!! ^_^

Thanks for the info... good the way they didn't say she was like those no-talented tramps, that she earned more.

The featured band was "The Mad Capsule Markets", and there was a small Duty-album-photoshoot picture of Ayumi.

Kerrang! is quite a famous and highish-selling monthly music magazine in the UK caterting mostly for the metal / alternative / angry-male-bands market.

No, seriously.
Considering much of their readership would cringe at both Ayumi the product and her music this is quite a complimentary write-up.

Hitomi
Princess of J-Pop, whoose name translates as "Beautiful Eyes". Basically, a Japanese J-Lo for aspirational 15-year-old Shibuya mallrats. And something else entierly for their dads.

Glay
Kings of the Japanese "Visual" scene, think Duran Duran meets Sigue Sigue Sputnik. The Glay boys woo Japanese Teens with their good looks, their poetic lyrics... and a harpsicord.

Ayumi Hamasaki
Bigger than Godzilla in her native land. Imagine Britney, Kylie and Beyonce in one cute package and multiply their combined earnings by 10. No, seriously.

Takanori Nishikawa
A god in Japan. His songs are all the widdly-widdly pomp-rock that accompanies Manga cartoons and episodes of "She-Ra". Probably. He's also a famous actor now.

Mr Children
A cute and cuddly indie-rock and who Make Brand new sound like Deicide. That name won't exactly help them spread their fame to the peadophile-obsessed Western world.

You know...all the little reviews sound a little on the negative or sarcastic side except Ayumi's.

Incredible! Maybe some other magazines should take a leaf out of their book...
