Walking Proud PV--the pop and lock guy

So I like Ayumi. I like her PVs. I like the song "Walking Proud"--- in fact, that song is one of my 3 favorites off MY STORY.

And I've just seen the PV. And I just can't help but be left with the feeling of how bad a PV it was. Maybe I just need to have it grow on me... I mean- the concepts were good- I loved some of the imagery ((her with the rhinestones- the strange place, etc.))...

But I think what killed it was the guy on the right of the screen who was doing his pop-and-lock sorta thing. So distracting when he's moving more than the central figure. Bad idea with him... x.X

Opinions on why he was there?

((I understand there's another thread for the PV in general- but I wanna know what's the deal with this guy!))

I figure, they were all robots in that scene, right? Except for Ayu of course. Because they all had blue stuff inside them, like wires or something, right? Seemed like the kid was programmed to offer candy, and the other dude was just supposed to stare off into space, and it looked like the "pop and lock guy" was a malfunctioning robot. Er. It was a really bizarre PV, but I liked it. Pop and Lock Guy was pretty cool.

Pop and lock guy weirded me out. Everyone else looked like ok robots, I suppose- but it was distracting while she was trying to sing. At least they could have placed him in a better position in the scene... some of the times he was directly behind her and with his movements it was hard to focus on the actual singer -_-.;;;

"the pop and lock guy" is doing what we call 'upstaging' AYU! Directing the focus away from the main character to him. But yeah...I liked the PV. If only they made him stay still! >.<

That's exactly what I think -_-.;;; just when he was getting on my nerves the camera angle would switch so that was good... but I think the editors only did that ((the above angle thing)) because there may have been too many shots with the "pop and lock guy" (henceforth- P n' L)~maybe there were too many shots with him in it. The above angle was a horrible angle--- but it may have been the only alternative.

yeah, I didn't like the extra people at all, they were all bad, the PV was cheaply made too, I would have much rather seen Ayu in a real setting instead of a set that was obviously a set. I only like the "kanariya" part of that PV.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the actual PV but I really liked the scene where she had the short, black wig in the white room.

I really agree! That guy was really distracting!! But i guess they did not know where he would go that wouldn't be distracting. Haha.

I think that is the intention, to distract.. That's why he was there o.o~
I love this PV, my favourite from all My Story PV's, with Carols. ^^

I watched the first 30 seconds of that PV the first 30 seconds of the Humming 7/4 PV streaming, and I turned them off because I thought they were boring and I didn't like the songs. But I thought the "Walking proud" PV was a little more interesting, but still boring...

Looks like I won't buy the CD+DVD, but I'll probably buy CAROLS CD+DVD because I love that PV!

Maybe distracting, but it must be the intended disctraction. It's all directed. The meaning? well, I think they just throw it in there for visual. Sometimes people tends to over ananlyze things.

How can you over analize when you're just watching it for the first time, though? I would imagine that the second or third time you'd watch for more detail- but for this to stand out the first time?

And I don't see why it should be intentional... of course the robot part- but maybe that guy over acted...

If the director(s) didn't like it or intend for it , then it it will be definitely be cut, like the swinging part in CAROLS' PV.

Well- that's true... but if such a large chunk of the PV was shot in that one scene... cutting it out would be hard, ne?

Well, they would've called "CUT!" on the spot, if they they didn't want it. I don't think it would've ran under the directors' radar, if it didn't ran under ours.
