so in the 1st half of 2006. ayu is the Sale Queen among foreigh Stars. ayu's getting more and more int'lly powerful

oh, of course Jolin didn't reached that number. perhaps you know little about the real status in Taiwan.

that 2 million is definitely fake! it was announced by her record company. All record companies are exaggerating their singers' sales. now the economy of Taiwan is going terrible, so for earning more sponsors, all the record company are exaggerating!!!

people said that the real sales of a singer times 10 is the announced figure. it was said to be a well-known secret among all Taiwanese Company.

Jolin can't reach that much. for her CD didn't sell as good as you've imagined!
it might be good in china, or even Taiwan, but definitely didn't even reach a million

if you calculate with that fake 2 million, then ayu will be almost 70k, that's impossible

It's a bit weird that Jolin sold more than Wang Lee Hom.. he's like the new Jay Chou :O! So Ayu probably did at the least 500k?

I don't pay attention to record-company things though.. but the artists are usually good. :] Cyndi's cool even though her MVs are freakin weird.

no chinese or Taiwanese artist can reach 1 million, becuz now the record market in china is terrible, illegal copies are everywhere -- much cheaper than the legal ones, illegal free downloading are everywhere. few people would like to spend more to just buy several songs which can be easily downloaded within 5 minutes.

in my city, the best CD shop put ayu's poster and jolin's poster at the same position -- entrance, and i saw they actually have bought ayu's (m)u as many as jolin's dancing diva!
maybe there are a few songs which are nice among jolin's album, but definitley different from ayu,in whose album, nearly all the songs are amazing! even though that was one of ayu's worst albums~i think~

and it's pleasing they put ayu's poster at the entrance more than a month, everyday after school, i was happy to walk by that cd shop, looking at ayu's laughing big mouse!

I think you're highly exagerrating that no one can reach 1 million. I actually think it's not that hard if the artist is widely popular or if the album is really really good. The number (1-2 million) is at least reasonable to me even if there is rampant downloading and bootlegs.

did you guys ever notice that Taiwanese Artists like making a sale celebration...

for example jolin, she made a celebration to celebrate her so-called 2 million. and so are the other artists.

but you may never see ayu celebrates her A best, or other albums, or utada celebrates her 8million First love... or Mariah carey celebrates her albums....

Why??becuz those Taiwanese Aritists are trying to make everybody believe that they do reach the announced sales -- and they know those celebrations are just advertisments of their albums.

Actually, american artists always celebrate when their album sells a lot. Mariah celebrated when her latest album sold 7 million copies worldwide. Plus, when an album reach over 10 million copies ww, there's always a stickers in the cover saying it did.

It's very common artists celebrating when they reach certain numbers everywhere. In Japan it isn't, because albums sell well only in the first week (usually) and them everybody moves on to their next single, while in the rest of the world artists spend the whole year promoting the album (and the singles).

Oh and by the way, the 2 million copies (in the whole Asia, obviously) aren't a lie. Record companies can be sued and have to pay lots of money if they lie a number like that...

I'm totally agree. They cannot simply lie about their artistes' sales number. Jolin's J-Game sold more 240k copies last year in Taiwan alone and it was the second best selling album of the year behind Jay Chou. Her first album sold 400k in Asia and her Magic 72 album sold 300k in Taiwan alone and all of them are true. I read them somewhere beside in Wikipedia

Another great examples are Fish Leong and 5566. 5566's first album.which I forgot the title, sold more than a million copies across Asia. Fish Leong's The Power of Love album sold more than 1.5 million copies in Asia. What I can say from this situation is, Taiwan's music market is pretty small. An album can sell 400k-500k or even more than that but reaching a million mark in Taiwan is quite impossible.

On the other hand, Asia is not one of the 3 biggest music market in the world (USA is the biggest, Japan is the second biggest and Europe is the third biggest)but an album could gradually sold 1 or more million copies in Asia

By the way, Jolin Tsai's Dancing Diva sold 2 million copies across Asia? The album was out in May and August is getting near. After just nearly 3 month it has already over 2 million copies. Hmm....... I don't know about that but it's quite possible. Who knows.

i saw those taiwan variety shows. i know what it's about...taiwan artist had to make themselves more in the news for attention.i only hate those numerruous 'gei ban' my pocket hurts from the hole....

i used to be crazy for 5566, i had at least 3 copies each album....
