[article] Vietnamese singers eying foreign music market

Excerpt:
Quote:
Being internationally recognised is a dream for many Vietnamese singers. With recent moves, it seems like the distance to the target is not too far for some of them.

Releasing a new album with three songs in English this December, My Tam, a famous Vietnamese pop star, will have chances to perform in Korea. Tam has been supported by a very professional company in the Korean entertainment industry, Nurimaru Pictures.

Kasim Hoang Vu, a singer who has gained great fame with his wonderful voice for rock, is approaching MTV Thailand with the hope that it will pave the way for him to enter the Asian music market in 2007. Kasim has invested in a carefully-made clip with the hope that it will impress music lovers in the new market of Thailand.

After Hong Hanh and the group Tam ca Ao Trang, Ho Ngoc Ha, the pop star, now aims at Japan as her new market. With the support of famous Japanese music producer Tachikawa Naoki, Ha is preparing to appear in Japanese fashion magazines because she is also a well-known model in Vietnam. After that, Ha will outline a more detailed plan on producing CDs and participating in performances in Japan.

I agree, doubt they would make it big anywhere.(no offense and all)
It's really hard breaking into foreign industry..it requires TALENT.
And I've seen most vietnamese singer performed before...and imo...they aren't that great. -_-''

The only one that I've ever heard was Cat Tien, and I actually like her music. I'm just not a huge fan of the language though, so it's harder for me to like Vietnamese songs than it is with Japanese songs.

Cat Tien is a good singer, I like her too. Most of the vietnamese singers in the US are good, but the one that are in VN..are umm..[not to my liking]...
haha, yeah, Vietnamese is a tough language...the vocabulary just kills me.
