[Question] First Press?

So... I still don't really get it, maybe some of you guys can clarify this for me.

Obviously, if you order from CDJapan, you'll get a japanese version wether the CD/DVD was just recently released or not. What is the meaning of the 'First Press'? What is so special or different about them?

First Press means one of the first made

They sometimes come with a special gift, like the first press's of GULITY and (miss)understood came with photobooks

It's limited therefore it becomes a collectors item so people would want it get it asap.

Then, does that mean that if (for example) Mirrorcle World is marked as 'First Press Sold Out', if I pre-order it I won't get it on the release date, and will have to wait for more copies to be distributed?

No, no.
It just means that you won't get the special gift with it =)

So, you won't get the special case.

Well once the first press is sold out, it's sold out, meaning no more new copies will be made. What's left would be the normal edition, which usually either means regular packaging (as is the case with "Mirrocle World") and/or minus the bonus materials that are found exclusively on the first press.
It has nothing to do with a delayed release date, however, as the first press & normal edition are produced & released at the same time, so that on the release date, if you don't manage to get a first press, you'll still be able to purchase the CD as its normal edition.
As mentioned above, first press is intended to be a collector's item...if you're really into the artist & want something more "special" to your purchase, that's the one to get. It's merely a business move to get people to buy the CD asap (or get multiple copies of the same CD).

But my stupid question is...What if the normal edition CD's are sold out?
There are no more to be made then?For example,will we be able to buy Ayu's A song for xx for at leat 5 more years or something or it will be completely sold out(in all CD shops and even at YesAsia/CDJapan etc.)?

'Just recently got my credit card and was waiting for my AT07 DVD payment to go through before ordering anything else. And now they're sold out...

No... CDJapan have just run out of First Press pre-orders. When the release date comes, they always have first presses available. Soooo, just wait for the release

To my knowledge, normal edition CD's don't really sell out.

Certain CDs go out of print when their time comes... which for popular artists like Ayu is like never.

Only if there's like a limited release or something does Ayu stuff ever stop being produced..

[however LIVE DVDs stop being in print after like 2-3 years]
