What do u think is harder for a j-singer to achieve?
I was wondering what record do u guys think would be harder for a j-artist to hold? Since Recently Ayu has been having many changes to her records XD!
I personally think consecutive singles are harder because singles are harder to sell, their ranking changes extremely fast, and random singers sometimes boom up the charts causing a loss of ur first place XD

Yayks... i've been also thinkin' bout that thang lately. FOr me, both are really hard to keep specially if the artist is just a new commer. In the middle of the rising number of artists in Japan, one must prepare himself/herself for that battle. And ofcourse, in order to gain better sales, she/he should have a distinction. in style (musically and personality) for instance. that's just my Opinion

I think it does depend on the artist like B'z is pretty much guaranteed the number one when they release something. However now things are a lot more unpredictable and sales have been on a sliding decline. The big battle between Ayu just had with Mirrorcle World and even with GUILTY proves that not everyone can just have their name put on the single and expect number one. And with artists like EXILE and Kobukoro getting great fame, they can hinder a record.
The one plus about this thing is that style plays more of a part in the popularity rather than the name of the artist. My belief is that the consecutive singles is harder to maintain since a lot of people prefer to wait for an album if they're thinking all the singles will just end up there anyway. And without a tie-in, it's even harder...

Singles because artists release more singles than albums.

i think singles would be harder to achieve, there's so many of them released by a lot of artists, so ayu makes it looks easy....but it really is harder

They're both pretty easy to maintain if you have a large enough fanbase and release on the right weeks. .

I picked both because they are both hard to achieve but when you know your single or album is like WoW then it won't be that hard! and I also think DVDs are harder to sell too!

I would say that consecutive #1 albums would be harder to maintain. Just look at Ayu, who has had a crapload of #1 singles, but GUILTY charted at #2.

albums, because anyone can compose singles...

Both are equally hard to keep, maybe singles a bit more because there are way more singles than albums.

At first I thought singles (since you release many more), but thinking further into it, both are equally as hard. Because it's all about your popularity at the time and your last release in general, be it single or album, that are most important in keeping your streak.
