W-inds official thread

this is my first time opening a thread so i am kinda nerves i'm just hoping that there are some w-inds fan left

w-inds. has a wide and strong fan base around Asia, including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia. They are especially popular in Taiwan, and were the only Japanese group invited to perform on the MTV Mandarin Awards, September 2006. They have held two concerts in Taiwan (2004 and 2005). Both received great response from fans. In 2004, their concert tickets sold out within 23 minutes, which set a record in Taiwan for the "artiste with the fastest selling tickets." Several popular Taiwanese celebrities have attended their concerts as well. In 2007, they returned to Taiwan to once again host a concert for the w-inds. live tour 2007 Journey.

They first performed in China in 2002, in Shanghai. They also took part in a China-Japan music festival in 2006. In March 2007, they flew to Beijing to participate in another China-Japan music festival along with two other Japanese artists. They have held video conferences in Hong Kong. On July 2, 2007 they joined the Pop Rock Gala in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. On this visit they picked up ten awards, accumulated from the years since their debut.

w-inds, are one of the few bands that are able to hold summer live tours annually. They have held summer live tours around Japan every year since 2002.

They were also the only Japanese artists to perform in the Mnet KM Music Festival, a music awards show in Korea, in 2006.

Of course they're popular in Japan. To sweetgirl: Just because you don't get top 3 with everything you release doesn't mean you "aren't that popular". Almost everything they release has landed in the top 10 (except their debut single, right?) which pretty much tells you about their popularity. Of course, they aren't as popular as Johnny's, but neither is anyone else.

I'm so glad someone FINALLY made a w-inds. topic! w-inds. are so un(der)loved on the internet. I'm not obsessed with them like I used to be, but they got me into j-pop way back when so I will always love them.

Edit: Also, w-inds. are definitely under Pony Canyon. ^o)

i realized too that w-inds are not much know or loved in the internet, that is why i decided to start a topic; i may get ppl to know them, i am a new fan myself

Yeah, it seems like NO ONE knows them on the internet. I think they're so underrated! Especially compared to inmyopinionoreallyreallyreallyoverrated Johnny's. In comparison to Johnny's, I think their music is definitely a lot more creative... And also, they can actually sing in sync with each other, which Johnny's seem to not be able to do very well (for example, KAT-TUN). Also, their music sounds very neat (like, orderly or clean) because of that and the fact that Keita is the lead singer, so you don't have six different people singing a line or two at a time.

Not to mention, Keita can sing better than any Johnny's man out there. Hands down. Even if his voice is weird~

As a side note, w-inds. have had a few #1 singles too.

I used to be quite a fan way back then when w-inds just debuted.. It was quite sad back then.. I mean many of the fans knew that w-inds couldn't get as much exposure on Japanese TV as compared to some other giant groups *ahem* cough* (no offence intended)

Back then, there were LOADs of rumours saying that some "boygroup giant" company sort of "threaten" a few music variety shows that if they allow w-inds, flame or lead to perform on their shows, this "boygroup giant" will boycott the music variety show.
--> so if you are careful enough to observe, you will never find w-inds performing or promoting their songs on certain popular music variety shows
--> if there is w-inds, most likely you will not find any boygroup from that "boygroup giant" performing on the music show; unless it is just keita performing as a soloist.

Gradually, w-inds went to promote themselves overseas. They were really popular overseas back then! There were loads of fans organizing dance classes just to learn their dance steps, and their dance steps weren't easy to learn at all.

These boys really worked hard all these years! and They are really talented! Their dance steps are really cool!

P.S. : Back then I adored this group called FLAME, who is under the same company as w-inds, however, they disbanded due to various reasons. Flame had the most handsome pair of twins I have ever saw! trust me!
