artcika pointed out in another thread that the piano opening in Curtain call is very similar to Mariah Carey's Without You piano opening.

My thoughts are that a lot of these sound clips are bought to be used by composers and somewhere down the road you are going to hear them again. As for pride, yeah it sounds really similar, it's possible that it's a copy/inspiration though at the same time music has progressed so far that it's getting harder and harder to compose something that's not even mildly similar to something else.

Well, i guess i know where that song comes from now... But the poker face remix actually sounds like a hybrid between the two. it has the guitar part from the Robert Miles's, but the piano part with reverb from The Standard Club's version... (though i think TSC's version is newer than the Spiritual guidance mix of poker face... so maybe its the other way around...) i never listened to the spiritual guidance mix very much, else i'd probably have made that connection a while ago XP

I listened to the albu mthat song was from and omg it's amazing!
![]() and back on topic: I know that it's common for remixers/composers to use samples from a common source, but ofc I can't remember what it's called. It's especially common in DJing, artists like Nakata do it all the time with their stuff. There's stock vocals/compositions that are for free use and don't need to be cited. I think at least definitely in tasking's case that seems to be the issue. |
