Jpop Collection - too big?

Anyone concerned that their jpop collection is out of control? I just realised that I have 71 CDs and for some reason that...worries/irks? me. I still have space left for now - can start piling CDs on top of one another. But I do have a wishlist of like 50 CDs/DVDs and I know I not going to get them anytime soon (too many new CDs coming out!) but I do think "where they heck am I going to put them")

I guess, I'm also concerned that it's a bit "geeky" and that it could be a "phase" (although with the rate the japanese music industry moves at, how could I ever get sick of jpop?). I've always had "obsessions" with things like with Buffy (and other tv shows friends and Angel, but mainly Buffy) and think that this could be another obsession and I do think "hey you're 20, going to be 21 yrs old this year" Is it considered to be a bit immature to have something you're really, really into? Should I still really be so into jpop to the almost obsessive stage, that I HAVE to buy a CD (or more depends what's out) a month? I guess this is where the "geeky" thing comes into it (which is stupid as my friends are all into japanese culture too and borrow my CDs) and anyone who will think it's "weird" or "geeky" like work colleages will never know, cause I ain't telling them.

Anway, sorry if this thread is totally random/off-topic/posted in the wrong forum.

Just needed a total random - it's like it's just dawned on me I have a problem. "Hi my name is mi|kshake and I have a jpop addiction"

Mine is too big.

I have a cd case that holds almost 200 cds, and it is full.
I have another case that holds 45 or so and it is full of mostly Japanese soundtrackcds.
And yet another case of 90 has more jpop, kpop and some random other stuff in it.

I also have a stack of cds that I havent put into any cases.
And I have more jpop on order o_o

Your going to rob her? XD If she has anything I need I'll help too.

Anyway as for my collection I have over 200 cds. I can't give a exact number since stopped counting after 200 and since I buy cds alot it's lot of work counting over and over again.

But I understand where your coming from with the Jpop thing My mom was like "I don't want to see no more Japanese things coming in your room." I stack my the top of my computer desk. My dad told me "One day all those cds are going to fall on you and kill you." I just laugh it of when they say that but I must admit My CD is getting a lil big.

I have an I-pod. =X I guess it's wrong to not support the artist, but I really don't have the money to spend on CD's. I doubt the RIAJ is gonna come knocking on my door anyway.

I buy concert DVD's and other merchandise though. I just don't see the point in spending so much money on imported CD's.. that get easily ruined.

I have 107 including DVD's, starting from 2001.

So your collection is not that big, I think.

The majority of my Jpop/jrock is still Ayu, however.

Not really, it's not a phase for me and I just treat Japanese music as music in general.

I am running out of space for CDs/DVDs though...not including DVDs I have around 95 Japanese CDs, but including everything non-Japanese (not including DVDs), it totals up to 300+. There's some I'm trying to sell off though.

In the past couple of years, my collection of mp3s has grown exponentially...while the number of purchased CDs and such have decreased....I think I'm obsessed, but, perhaps I should try to support the artists more as well? ^^;;;

I do have a lot of J-pop CDs though...I just don't remember how much exactly.

My life story. hahaha I have about 130 CDs and I think it is a little bit out of control... but music is music and for most I think, music doesn't get old. I can understand if you bought cheesy pop or something because it does seem fun at the moment but really isn't relistenable. The CDs I tend to buy are music I'm pretty sure won't sound immature or anything when I get older. So I'm not worrying too much. But more importantly I don't think music is a phase that dies out, we all love some sort of music and it follows us through life.

It's not like Beanie Babies or say Anime. (Oh and I've learned to control my spending by picking up ALBUMS only... unless it's by Ayu or Onitsuka Chihiro, cause albums are more than often worth their price)

Man I can't afford japanese music-_- I usually buy off ebay and then sell it to a used music store and get something else. Jpop is a phase I go threw honestly. I actually didn't listen to any jpop music for 6 months last year. I just got back into the scene in December.

I can see what you mean. My collection isn't that big (about 35 CDs?) On one hand, I wan't to buy more, I really want to have a big collection. But on the other hand, I'm kinda skeptic about having so many CDs, like what I'm going to do with them when I'm older, like, an adult. And then I think, "When I'm older, will I still be into collecting?" I think about the whole maturity thing also. I try to not think about it. @_@
