If you asked my, A Best 2 killed the sales for Secret because people wanted a compliation album more than a original album with new songs... it's almost as if the two albums are competing for sale.

I don't think it really matters how many copies were shipped, just as long as Ayu's fans are happy (and in this case it was to satisfy the hightened demand of Ayu's Taiwanese/mainland Asian fans). ;]

Thinking about it, 1.9 million copies have been shipped, and out of that 1.3 million have been sold, so 600K is left in stores, not too bad. *optimism* :|

Since limited products don't sell everything, I think A BEST 2 is doing quite good with this 1.9 million copies shipped =)

They already sold 1.3 million just in Japan for its first mounth, so that makes 0.6 million that need to be sold.
If you add asian purchases [Taiwan, Hong-Kong, China, Malaysia & Singapour], the online purchases [HMV, CDJapan, YesAsia], plus more A BEST 2 to be sold until then end of the year in Japan, I think we won't be THAT far from this number finally =D

It's SHIPPED, not SOLD. Shipped is SOLD TO STORES.

Plus, it isn't possible to A BEST 2 Ato sell that much outside Japan because all the markets Ayu is popular are very small (Taiwan, Singapore) and have insgnificant sales numbers, except China, of course, but with piracy and stuff, I really doubt she sold over 200k of A BEST 2.

And the 1.9 million shipment is JAPAN ONLY.

Im pretty sure avex is happy with the money they made from the cds that was shipped...and I dont think its a loss for them either...as it did well outside of Japan too...they made money from them too.

I doubt Oricon can count every single sale in every single store (online and what not). I'd estimate that 500,000 are left in stores...and there are literally thousands upon thousands of music stores.

I was at the HMV in Shibuya and they had about 10-15 copies on display.

She might have sold really well in China despite all the piracy. One of Rain's album's sold 300k copies there, so the industry can't be too small.
