Overseas Ver. vs. Japan Ver.

I'm shopping at YesAsia for some more Ayu stuff, and I was wondering. What is the difference between the Overseas versions and the Japanese versions? Is it just the price?

umm...i never got chinese on my cds...you get a chinese translation of the songs (and a translation of the talking if you buy a concert dvd), and the OBI might have chinese (excluding my ULTRA BLUE obi)...but other than that, not really...

oh, not sure if this applies to ayu, but some overseas/japan version might have stuff that the other doesn't. such as do as infinity's GATES OF HEAVEN bonus track. japan had the a-nation live version of honjitsu wa seiten nari, while overseas had the mandarin version of shinjistu no uta (<3)

In the end, it's really a collectors thing.. if you want the authentic thing from Japan (and the obi in Japanese). If you don't care about that, of course get the cheaper one.

Honestly, I want the cheaper version.
But I just don't want Chinese or something on it. That's my main deal.

DO YOU NOT LISTEN TO ME?!

ok, there is NO CHINESE ON THE CASES. the closest thing to chinese on the case is either the obi and/or the stickers they put ON THE PLASTIC WRAPPER. there is also a CHINESE TRANSLATION. other than that, NO CHINESE unless it's a fake...

lmfao. whatever. I decided not to shop at YA.
They're to strange for me.
I'll spend my cool prepaid Visa at CDJapan.
Thanks though, everyone.

Does the overseas version let you play a DVD on region protected DVD player?

I have a VCR/DVD player and I have no clue as to what region it plays. I really wanna buy BoA's CD+DVD but I don't even know if she's gonna have an overseas version to it. I hope so!

or if you have a computer =3

^I heard that you have to set your computer a certain way to be able to play a overseas DVD. Is that true???

It's all very confusing...sorry!

it's not hard. if you just put it in, they'll go all 'OH YOU CAN'T PLAY THIS BECAUSE OF YOUR REGION' (for some players). then they'll go 'LET'S CHANGE THE REGION RIGHT' and you say yes (you'll have 3 times to change it). some players, you can just watch it (i recommend media player classic)

OS versions (from China/HK) are region 3. So no you can't normally watch them on our DVD players.

I have NEVER had a problem with OS/HK/KR versions. In fact they are my preference because they are cheaper. There usually is a paper INSERT with Chinese translations of the lyrics on it, but there is no difference in the packaging otherwise. The CD itself will say stuff like "NOT FOR SALE IN JAPAN" but whatever.
