and about the excuse making here on AHS... I'm just so tired of people blaming the photographer for Ayu's bad pics, when in reality she just looks weird now. Excuses go beyond her photoshoots, even for her music videos etc. If people see something they don't like, they don't think it's Ayu fault. They always seem to find someone else to blame. If she doesn't notice what's going on, she's at fault, if she does and is letting it happen anyway, she's at fault. Ayu was FIERCE at controlling her image and music, if she's letting other people do it, it means she's HAPPY with what they're doing. Which, seeing how bad it is, is BAD

Um. Is it possible for AHS to do a petition for Ayu to go back to controlling her own image? No, seriously. I'm sure the Japanese fans have something to say about this too. And I thought things were improving when I saw the SCawaii scans. Lesson learnt, man. Lesson learnt.

This might sound weird after all of this discussion about whether she's had a nose job, whether it's makeup, or what, but uh...
I see no point in discussing ayu's LOOKS to anywhere near this level. Who. The heck. CARES what she looks like?!?!?! Honest to goodness, people. Ayu's charm is not, and has never been, her looks. Her makeup & clothes, sure, but that's more because she's projecting her taste in fashion & makeup, not because those things are what she looks like. With her makeup & clothes, she was just sharing something she enjoyed with her fanbase. No, her charm has been in her lyrics, her "taking control" personality, her artistic choices. Not her looks. You guys can go on & on & on about "oh she must have had surgery," "oh, I don't like how her face looks now," whatever. But THAT IS WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE NOW. If you wanna be the shallow fan who really only ever liked her cuz she had a cute face, then fine. But alot of us don't feel that way. Alot of us simply don't care that much. Ayu's face was going to change eventually regardless - age happens. Your nose gets bigger, your ears get bigger, your wrinkles get more defined, your cheeks change shape, your lips get thinner, your face CHANGES. So one way or another, her face was gonna change, so if her looks were a big draw for you, you're a fool to think she'd always look like that & you'd never be disappointed in her looks. Heck, I'm only 25 years old and my face is ALOT different than it was just a few years ago - age has already started to get me. Ayu's 30, so age is probably starting to get her. If if is, and she's decided she wants to fight back with plastic surgery, fine! Good for her! She's got the money, and now maybe she has her 15 year old nose back - if she does, I have no fundamental issues with that. But I'll be honest, guys, her facial changes have been so gradual, I'm not seeing a substantial difference from how she looked a few years ago, and no, there's nothing you could say or show me that would make me magically see what you guys are seeing. If she did get a nose job, it didn't do too much, and she should probably get her money back. ![]() That said, honestly, I can't think of any time when she would have had the TIME to get one. We see her all the time - when could her nose have possibly healed up from such a procedure? I'm sure there was a time in there somewhere when she disappeared for a few weeks, but I can't think of it. I honestly could care less if she's had surgery or not - and I'm honestly shocked that you guys care so much. But if her looks and personal choices are THAT much of a concern to you, you shouldn't be here. It's okay if you're a fan of her looks, just go look at photos of her though. Don't come here and try to discuss her face intelligently, because there's really no way to do that. If her personal choices concern you to the point where you need to put side-by-side photos up to see if she's had plastic surgery..... *sigh* Honestly, you shouldn't idolize someone to the level where your life hinges on whether or not SHE would ever get plastic surgery. Think to yourself, what difference does it make?? If she's had work done, she's had work done. Having work done doesn't necessarily make her dishonest - it's a personal choice she made. She's a very honest person as far as her feelings & thoughts, her blog alone is proof of that, if not her lyrics. If she's uncomfortable with any part of her looks, and she has the money to fix it, then that's her business, not yours. If you're offended by the idea that she might have had plastic surgery, honestly, why are you idolizing any celebrities at all? I mean seriously, the number of celebrities that HAVEN'T had work done probably number in the single digits! You have to think to yourself WHY you're a fan of ayu's. Any personal decisions she makes regarding her own body have NOTHING to do with us - it's her lyrics & style & attitude towards her fans that touches us. We can be dissatisfied with these scans, but does it really warrant 10 pages of discussion? We should be dissecting her lyrics like this, not unflattering photos.

Oh, Delirium-Zer0, i always enjoy reading your posts lol. Thank u very much.
I agree with everything u said, and i wanna believe many people will agree with u as well. This should actually be like the end of discussion. Or well, if people wanna keep on posting about this they really should make another thread, cause this poor thread has nothing to do with the Sweet scans anymore lol.

Considering Ayu's IMAGE used to be as important as her lyrics and views, it seems a bit hypocritical to revoke that now when she looks like an ugly panda. The fact is, Ayu used to use her videos and her CD covers to show a message just as much as she used her lyrics. A BEST is probably the best example of that.
Her magazine photoshoots were always glam shots in the end, HOWEVER, they never FELT like glam shots before. You always used to be able to look at her face and see a PERSON there, see that the high and mighty singer was actually a person underneath all the subtle brilliance and wonderful melodies. She was just like you and me, give or take a few million bucks and legions of fans. NOW, on the other hand, all the pictures of her are the same thing. "Look at me I'm pretty~" "Look at me, I'm so young~" "Look at me, I'm Ayumi Hamasaki~" The same depth and value isn't there. You look at these photos and you might as well be looking at a corpse. Her CD covers are starting to do what, even her VIDEOS are starting to do that. It's like taking a HUGE portion of what Ayumi Hamasaki was and DESTORYING it. And we're just trying to look at why and what happened. Call it shallow if you want, but we're not saying "oh my god she looks awful, her music must suck because of it." THAT'S shallow, this is just a healthy debate over a facet of her career that's going terribly wrong. She was a model, she loves fashion and all that jazz, she should know what looks good, she sure used to. Now she doesn't give a rats ass and it shows. She's taking pictures for the sake of taking pictures, which, could very well have been her intent from her very first photo shoot. I can't say that she didn't always think that way, I don't know her, but I can say it never looked that way until recently. Image is important in the music world, it's not the most important thing at all, but it's something that should be discussed. I mean, we can't all sit here and go "Ayu's so great, everything she does is wonderful, she is perfect." Because she's not, that's what *I* love about her. She's fundamentally flawed and she shows it. If she's letting crap pictures like this of her get published, if she's gone that lax with her control on her image, what's next that she'll get too lazy to bother trying to control? Her compositions? She already stopped composing years ago. Her lyrics? Who knows. And as a celebrity, as a public figure, your personal decisions are never your personal decisions. They're always going to be met with fan approval or disapproval. I'm not saying she got work done, but even if you asked her she wouldn't admit it. Because of fan backlash. Actions create reactions, that's the life of a celebrity, as her fans it IS our business what she does because it affects the career we're fans of. tl;dr: Ayu's image is currently imperfect, and as fans, we should discuss it, not push out those who are negative because they're "bad fans" or whatever

I agree with both octolina and GRACE. To say her image or even her face don't "matter" is just silly. I certainly wouldn't buy make-up from her anymore.

Ayu's nose isn't trying to put forth a point, the way the A BEST cover was. When ayu is using her CD covers to send a message, THEN looks matter. But not when we're talking about the physical details of her face. Then, it's superficiality.
