Ayu did not achieve super-stardom through mediocrity.

What is she contributing to the musical landscape right now? Nothing but gimmicks, it seems. I honestly do not think she's working at her full potential. J-pop is in a huge rut right now, and what does one of the most celebrated, iconic J-pop stars do? Release an uninspired mini-album full of Yuna Ito recuts and saccharine pseudo-R&B love songs. Worst of all, since the rise of social media, her AND her staff have been unprofessionally responding to criticism when instead they should just keep their mouths shut and focus on their work.

Regarding A song is born, no more words, Dearest... Perhaps these songs would be "generic" for any other artist to sing, but Ayu's vocal interpretation was nothing short of brilliant. She was a master of pathos in those days. I will say that I think how beautiful you are is a gorgeous song, and one of her better ballads in recent years.

and personally I like I am.... (the album and song) one of her best works, I play it often.

Maybe you can consider I am.. a very generic album, but is one of my favourites and is better than any song composed by the master Timmy (except BRILLANTE maybe,IMO)

And the rest is a opinion.. I, for example, am really liking all the results of Ayu collabs with Timmy, and enjoyed everything music-related she did with Leslie.
It's not homophobic as much as it's stereotypical. But some of those stereotypes are true, still it doesn't make NaNaNa sound any less the way he described it. I didn't bold the parts saying I didn't like her works with Timmy. Nevertheless every thing she's done with Kee during the last few years was pretty much terrible, but that's also the matter of taste.

Do I like Ayu's new stuff? Of course I do. Do I think it's better than the old stuff. Not a chance. Still Love songs is among her best studio albums so far, but there is something that her pre-Memorial Address albums had that is kinda gone and it's something I find I miss quite often. And yes some of her newer songs do come off as a bit "forced". She has had so many gems on each and every one of her studio albums and I do understand that she has grown both as a person and as an artist and with that came certain changes, but I think she was more involved with her music a few years back. As she gained stuff she seemingly also lost some a long the way which is normal I guess.

It simply felt she was more creative when it came to her PVs, pictures and at times even music back at the golden days. Now I am not sure if that's really a fact, but it sure looks like one to me. Her pre-MA covers really rocked and were more than just beauty shots, now the closest thing we've got was Party Queen which wasn't that great of a concept imo.

I was being a bit hyperbolic, but I'm just calling it as I see it. Sorry if I offended anybody.

Since this thread is on the subject of tours... To what extent do you guys think Ayu creates songs and albums specifically with the tour in mind?

A quick note, your statements were not homophobic, harsh, yes, but not homophobic.

As for the thour question I have thought about this for a very long time and listening to some of her albums and then watching her tours I get the feeling she makes albums so she can tour... if that makes sense.
I mean just album seems like she places the tracks as if it were in tour format (all the newer stuff anyways.)
Rock n Roll, Love songs, Party Queen... I can just see the tour unfold as I listen to the album.

Of course you can discuss what you want. But there is a thread for Party Queen discussion, or maybe make a thread for general album discussion.
Here it is just off topic. Always I look in here I just read the first new post and skip all others...

It was homophobic as you was linking non-heteronormative homossexuals to something negative and inferior. It's too damn easy to respect the different if they simply act and live on the same way "normal people" do... homossexuals who act the way men and women "should" aren't the ones suffering with prejudice everyday of their lifes... The "effeminate" ones (and really, as if there weren't hedonistic straight people listening to flat dance music too). When you use them to justify something being bad or inferior, you are implying those characteristics are innerent to them.

But oh well... you wasn't intented to offend anyone, so, I guess this is good... just be careful to not reiforce negative ideas about minnorities... sometimes we do it without even noticing.
