Hello all, I've been a bit curious about rumors about Ayumi Hamasaki getting eye surgery to make her eyes a bigger? I always thought she had big, beautiful doe eyes and when she was still a swimsuit model, her eyes did look a bit different but it could be because she smiles more in those pics maybe making her eyes look smaller and squinty. You know now that she has more of a serious look in her photos now and wears more eye make up maybe to open her eyes a bit more.... but did she really get eye surgery? I don't really think it's a big deal if she did or not but I've been really curious about if it's true or not. Thankies!

Not true, took me a while, her eyes been big since forever, there are pics of her as a young kid with large eyes.

people always think ayu had a eye surgery
but i seen alot of her pic when she was a kid
her eyes was still pretty huge then

some say that she did because they change in shape, or look very eerie.

others say she doesn't, therefore she had those eyes since she was born.

In my opinion, its all rumors. I'd have to hear from Ayu herself if she had surgery or not, on news or a tv program, but for now I'm in the middle, she probrably had a little touch up OR left them alone, nobody knows, like yvette said

Ayumi doesn't think that her eyes are that big, it was mentioned in an interview on that show Wada Akiko does. So either she's being humble or...she really doesn't realize how big her eyes are comparatively, leading me to believe it's not surgery but make-up and effects.

rumors tell she did. but thoses are RUMORS. My japanese friend told me that she completly change her both eyes one times

Ah thanks for the replies, I haven't seen a pic of Ayu as a little girl before just in her teens and her eyes were pretty big there when she gives a serious expression so I'm guessing they're natural after all

I think it's the effect of makeup. because take myself as an example, I don't jhave big eyes, so i try to do my makeup the way ayu does, with lots of eyeliner and mascara. my sister and my friends have told me that my eyes look bigger than they were before. AHHHHHHHH, the magic of makeup!!!!!

These would be those childhood pics others have spoken of. I think they show that her eyes even as a child were fairly round.

But to me, I don't even really mind. Surgery or not, it's all good with me.

Edit: You know, I never noticed it, but she has some kind of bandage on her forehead in that last one. o_0

I don't care at all! In fact, if *I* were rich like Ayumi, you better believe I'd have plastic surgery if I wanted it and have no qualms about it.

man! wen i asked my friends about Ayumi the first thing my friends said was "Did u know she had plastic surgery"? and i was like, ehhhh whateva...god everyone thinks she has plastic surgery but i don't think she did...how can i prove to them?

Personally, I don't think she had plastic surgery. I really dont' think they can do anything to make them look bigger (but then again I'm not an expert), because I read once that of all the things on your face (the nose and ears) that slowly grow over a lifetime, your eyes stay the same size.

That's not what it is. The surgery in question doesn't actually make your eyes bigger. I don't know the medical name of it, but it's called double-eyelid surgery. Basically all it does is creates a thin fold of skin on the upper eyelid, creating a "double-eyelid". Some people think this makes the eyes look bigger and more attractive. Some people say it's because it looks more Western and is therefore desirable, but that's a messy opinion rant not worth getting into. Nevertheless, it's apparently a relatively common cosmetic-surgery procedure in Japan and Korea.

Whether or not Ayu had the surgery, I don't know, and frankly I don't really care either way. A Japanese friend said she didn't like Ayu because she definitely had the surgery; but then people in America were also convinced Britney Spears had a boob job and felt the same way. Just one of life's petty mysteries.
