does that makes fairyland a non-summer single? coz the theme is basically summer-ish, right?

The thing is that the BLUE BIRD single was stated to follow the tradition of the A, H and & series, at several sources, including the official page I think. That's where the excitement came from.

it sorta ended up following the INSPIRE, Fairyland tradition -- i.e summer singles, rather than maxi singles... it was supposed to be triple A side, but it didn't turn out to be...

It is a maxi single, just like all her single releases since MOMENTS (I think it's since MOMENTS) has been. The only thing it isn't is a triple a side.

^I don't think CAROLS was one, but otherwise yeah they've all had 2 "a-sides".

I thought fairyland was summer-ish enough, it had the whole summer and Hawaii thing going.

BLUE BIRD doesn't look maxi to me, but i guess that's just my impression...

I think all singles released in the summer can be called summer singles. A/H/& stand out cos they all had more than 1 A-side on them.

Ayu Summer singles:
YOU (1998) or Trust (1998)
Boys & Girls (1999) or A (1999)
SEASONS (2000)
UNITE! (2001)
H (2002)
& (2003)
INSPIRE (2004)
fairyland (2005)
BLUE BIRD (2006)

Well, yeah. "fairyland" is a summer single because it was released in summer! Just like "BLUE BIRD", "A", "H" and "&". What is the difference is that "A", "H" and "&" were promoted as "special summer releases" and includes more than 2 a-sides... Something like that.

Did they say CAROLS was a maxi single on the website? Because it doesn't say that on the CM.

CAROLS is a maxi single. Basically, all of ayu's single after B&G are maxi.

They did explain it was originally planned to be one, but that was after all the complaints of the fans. They never stated it in their inital press release of her 40th single. It just said it was a special single.

fairyland is pretty much a summer single. The PV, the song, it's very summer. I wish she hadda kept the maxi single thing tho

anywayz, i would really count fairyland as a summer single. its entire them is summer. PV, sound, etc.

hmm. i always thought that fairyland IS a summer single. cos the entire song is so summer. as in the PV was set at a beach. her performances for fairyland were summerish too. haha

All singles released in the summer is ofcourse a summer single, but they doesn't have to be "special summer singles" like A, }{ and &.
