It's connected to a rig on the roof. The same sort of rig that moves the big red ball in Alterna.

It's a camera, it's connected to two wires that make up a track for it. The track (wires) is above the camera and the whole thing moves attached right below it.

It's not really to film the crowd, it's to film upper views of the stage, since they can't stick camera rigs in the middle of the audience (the ones on the side can't reach the central parts of the stage close enough).

like they do at tennis matches for instance and other (sporting) events,
like A-nation ('06) for example, you can see it flying above the crowd and the shots from that camera too, of course
