Phoenix Down!

Lol, I revived this thread. I just discovered her awhile ago and the first song I heard from her was Honnou. I LURVE her album Shouso Strip, its so good, I like every single track. I can't believe she had her mole removed, she looked better with it XD.

I think that one might be my favourite, too. Maybe... it's hard to choose.

What the hell is Utaite Myoori? All the songs are so weird o_o. Is the album supposed to be like that?

^ Utaite Myoori is a cover album she did, apparently it's a favourite among many, but it's probably my least favourite album of her's. I think she did a good job in it though, it's nice hearing her sing in different languages (though she should have tried Spanish xD). I honestly love all her albums, but my bottom three have to be (this is including Tokyo Jihen): Utaiter Myoori, Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana, and Adult. Shouso Strip is definitely one of her best, it's what got me to love her. As for concert info, I think during November or something Tokyo Jihen had their tour, because I know that they did one recently, here's a link to some info on it.

Lol, so thats what it is XD, I like the German song for some weird reason XD. And her cover of I wanna be loved by you . There are a lot of French tracks though or something on the Mori-pact disc.

I really like the songs on Utaite Miyori too. It's really great. My favorite album by her, though, is KZK. It's a masterpiece. I don't know how she could compose an album with like over 40 different instruments @_@. As for Tokyo Jihen, my favorite is ADULT. I love Kyouiku and Variety too, but ADULT is just the perfect blend.

How do you guys feel about Heisei Fuzoku? I love it ^_^

I was sort of unimpressed with it unfortunately :/ Gamble and Sakuran were really good, maybe Oiran, too, but it was the rearranged songs that I didn't really care for. I thought the originals were much better.

OLD THREAD IS OLD.

KZK is definitely her best album, VARIETY is definitely TJ's most playful album, ADULT is exactly it's title, and kyouiku is delicious with a heavy amount of BULLHORN.

shouso STRIP is also delicious. STOICISM <3

^ Honestly, listen to all her stuff xDDD! She is a musical genius! To be honest, I don't think anyone should listen to KZK as their first, I feel that you really need to get the feel for her music to truly appreciate that one, cause when it the first I heard and it was cool but too dark sounding. I listen to it now and heck, I can melt to the sound it's so good xD My fave on that album is Okonomide. Ichijiku no Hana is nice too ^^ So weird, so Ringo, she's as weird as they come and I love her for it xD

Sooo... My personal summaries:

Muzai Moratorium: Goodness, for a debut album this really did kickstart it all. It's rockish fun, it's good an easy listening pop-rockish sound so no problem there. The highlights for sure are Kabukicho no Jyoou and Marunouchi Sadistic <3

Shouso Strip: Out of all the albums including TJ this is my favourite. I felt that she started to experiment more here, I especially adore Sakana, that song is soooo jazzy it gets hot and steamy everytime I listen to it in the show... Nothing implied there I'll stop before I let out any wrong ideas xD *ahem* A lot more rockish than the first, in this she's in her state of ROCKSTAR SHIINA! So my faves are Tsumi to Batsu, Sakana and Honnou.

Utaite Myoori: Like I said it's my least favourite of all, but she does an amazing job with these covers, my personal faves in this are Kuroi Orfeo, Momen no Handkerchief and Yer Blues.

Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana: Oh gosh, this album is sooo dark, like I said you need to get the feel for Shiina for this album. The highlights are Meisai (One of my all time Shiina faves), Okonomide, Yattsuke Shigoto, and Torikoshi Kurou.

Heisei Fuuzoku: Just for a bit of history's sake, KZK was supposed to be her last solo, but we goy (blessed with ;D ) this lil beauty! It's very classical and jazzy sounding which totally made me adore it. The whole album is incredible (honestly) the only tracks I really would skip are Hatsukoi Shoujo and Poltergeist but that's me being a loser. The re-arranged tracks are even more amazing than the originals (IMO of course), this one is a MUST HAVE!

Tokyo Jihen time! (How is it so far? xD)

Kyouiku: My favourite Tokyo Jihen album (although they're all quite top notch). I feel that it was heavily influenced by Shiina for sure (well usually it is right but whatever), since they were starting they didn't have their jazz-rock fully defined yet but they did have the elements of both. The whole album is a joy ride, it's there to educate you ;D Ringo style! The best of the album, Ringo no Uta, Nyusui Negai, Sounan, and Genjitsu wo Warau.

Adult: Thanks to JimmyKoria I was able to get my hands on this one ^^ Here is where they really defined their style to the point where you can say, THIS IS TOKYO JIHEN! IMO of course. A lot more chilled, despite her swearing ;D It does have a more mature sound to this though, thus the name Adult. The album is incredible but it leaves me craving more which is why it didn't out do Kyouiku for me, probably because (I'm such a hypocrite xD) it's very jazzy and easy to listen, it ends too quickly I guess. I've got to say though, this album has a lot of her best material (IMO) such as Himitsu (I love her rock version too on Dynamite Out), Shuraba, Blackout, Toumei Ningen, and Tegami.

Variety: Last but not least! Tokyo Jihen is back and Shiina has taken her influence out, it was time for Uki, Izawa, and Kameda to truly shine (did Hata do any?). I'm tired of summarizing, it still has their defined sound just that they played around alot more. Top songs: Kingyo no Hako, Boutomin, SS/AW, Kronekodow, Tsukigime Hime, and Metro.

My favourite song by her is Ringo no Uta (single version) Her best for sure, honestly if she doesn't end her career with that song she's on drugs or something xD

edit: WOW this took a while, I wonder who will waste time reading it. Ah well, not everyone likes the same as me but I guess my likes revolve around the same as Ringo Soulmate maybe!?

Hmm ADULT is my favorite Tokyo Jihen album, but I don't think you can ever say anything IS Tokyo Jihen. Phase 1 had two different members and thats really who they were. Then look at phase 2. You have ADULT composed by Ringo and then the guys compose Variety which is completely different. I don't think they can be identified. They are like chameleons ^__^.

ADULT is my favorite album Ringo has ever done, but if I had to divide by band and solo, I'd say KZK is my favorite solo album. It's really a master piece. Over 30 different instruments on it @_@. I can't get over what a feat that is.
