Technically, not the best vocals, but one of the best emotive J-pop singers from my generation. Technique alone does not equal a beautiful voice or great songs (Heart Station I am looking at you). It's the emotion behind the singing

Ayu will always have a special place in my heart, a porch with a view of the ocean. Other singers will have to settle with less. She may not be my favorite singer right now, I don't think I have one, but she'll always be the one I grew up listening to. She's part of my life, and not only mine. Oh well... she's Ayu, enough said.
