Lol 5th day and still going strong. Those sales are rapidly diminishing though. I hope she can hold #1 for 2 more days to close the week.

I doubt GREEN/days total sales can exceed MW's...but im already quite pleased with the sales right now and i just hope that it will sell two times more tomorrow.

i wonder if having first press editions of things are the reason why the first day is so high and why the rest is so low.

she should release a single or album without any first press/limited editions and see how the sales go. i wonder if they'd be more steady...

but still, all i really care about are good quality singles and keeping her #1 streak

I wouldn't call a 30+ concerts tour a mini hiatus, she's been busy all the time.

And that's just sad because it is such a better single. Two PVs, neither of which are terrible, one of which is quite good. And two really good songs.
Lots of promo was done for this single so the sales can't be blamed on lack of promo. She also had 4 different covers and absolutely zero competition on the release date.

This single really demonstrates her diminishing popularity - it should have sold much better than it did.

It's a mini hiatus for her. She did all that plus much more in other years.

She only held a concert on one of the days (if I remember correctly) and 16,000+ plus sales on one day do not happen at a concert (especially when the venue capacity is far lower than that and most people who were at the concert would have already bought the single anyways). They also always sell her singles and albums outside of the venue, but do you ever see it significantly effect her chart standings? The other day of some 12,000+ sales is completely unaccounted for. There were some other unknown factors at work in order for her to get that #1 - but no one can say what it was for certain.

I guess you both misunderstand what lfebaggins referred to. Yes she is busy all the time, with 30+ concerts etc. However, she has not been on the tv, on the magazines, in front of Japan's public for half a year. That's why it's considered a mini hiatus.

Remember, ayu fans know what she's doing, but normally the public in Japan doesn't know (and they dun really care). To them, she just simply disappeared for almost half a year.. (I'm not saying the media didn't talk about her during her tour time, but it's really minimal).

^ exactly. Not everyone follows her as closely, unless you happen to be a loyal and devoted fan of hers...like us. Taking into account that she released something for the year, you can always count on her to appear on the big end-of-the-year music shows to ring in the New Year. She did make occasional TV appearances after the release of MW and there were a string of TV appearances (and still counting) before and after Days.

Compared with the earlier years of her career, she definitely has slowed down a little I think. She was in and out of the country quite a lot this year too so I think it's to be expected.

120000 is still a very good first week sales number... And who knows, maybe this one will have a longer staying power. Even if it doesn't, it is still good.

Yet in that sucky economy Mr. Children managed to sell 700,000+ copies of their album? I wish people would stop hiding behind the download and economy excuses...

Those of course are factors - but try telling that to the artists who still manage to sell well both digitally and non digitally. I really don't think the economy is a good excuse as there are several artists that are selling extremely high numbers right now.

Not to mention Exile selling almost 1 million copies in 1 WEEK, etc etc.

My friend in Japan tells me things are relatively cheap now... I believe it, since the dollar is down to 90 yen... and it was lower than that not too long ago...

Yeah, I mean this single really had everything setting it up to sell extremely well, so it's very disappointing that it didn't. 100k+ is an achievement for many artists, but for Ayu who is supposed to be the top tier female artist of Japan, it's very low imo and it definitely deserved to sell more.

I may be jumping the gun here, but this may well be the last year that we see Ayu in the closing position of some of these end of the year shows unless things turn around.(And honestly speaking, this year the closing spots should have probably gone to Arashi.)
