It's the Glorious Revolution era look. One more performance from that "Futari no Big Show" episode has been uploaded (added it above).

It's a duet with Toshihiko Tahara. I hope some person recorded the full show, I want to download it so bad.

I doubt it. It's rare for them to invite older acts to the show, especially females. Chisato Moritaka was an exception in 2009, but was invited only because she did a duet with Junichi Inagaki. However, what if Seiko pulled out a Top 10 single again!? Let's compare to the two other (active) idols from around the time of Seiko's debut - Akina Nakamori's last appearance was in 1996 with "MOONLIGHT SHADOW" (ORICON #14) and Kyoko Koizumi's in 1999 with "for my life" (ORICON #33).

Yes, that sounds logical. Problem is that Music Station wasn't on air when she was the most active on doing TV promotion. I'm sure she would have at least 80+ appearances if it would've started a few years in advance. Seiko was actually semi-retired when Music Station went on air in 1986. She had settled down. Good example of this is that in the late 80s, she declined 19 out of 23 (83%) times to appear on TBS' "The Best Ten" music show.

Living Legend.

Matsuda Seiko (her real name is Kamachi Noriko) is born on 10th March 1962 in Kurume, in the Fukuoka Prefecture (Kyushu Island). She had a common childhood surrounded by her parents and her elder brother. Her mother was ever-present in her life, watching over and worrying about her hugely for everything and anything. Note that Noriko is a distant cousin of Kamachi Sachiko more well-known under her stage name ZARD
In 1978, Noriko decided to take part to a famed annual contest organized by Miss Seventeen magazine, a new talents hunter and a kind of bridge to become to actress or singer. But Noriko didn’t care about the glory. In fact, she only wanted to win the contest because the first prize is… a trip to Disneyland in Los Angeles. She arrived in the final almost by accident; she sang Sakurada Junko’s kimagure Venus. She won the contest with this song. The problem was that these weeks of the contest and the songs were as a revelation for young Noriko. She decided to become a singer but her father was thoroughly against her dream. As she was a minor, she needed her father’s approval to be able to become a singer. Her dream fizzled out. But, a boss of her record company recognized her huge potential (I don’t know if it’s the right word. A synonym would be talent). He met a lot of time her father and gained his approval finally. Noriko could start a career that will be fabulous.
Her first contract wasn’t a disc but a drama named Tamanegi Miutara. She played a girl named…Matsuda Seiko. She liked so much the patronomyc that she appropriated it. Kamanichi Noriko vanished to let her place at Seiko Matsuda. In 1980, the larva transformed. On 1st April, she released her 45 disc, “Hadashi No Kisetsu” that was sold at 300 000 copies and broadcasted at radio a lot of time. Her second single “Aoi Sangoshoo” a summer hit, judiciously out in June, was during 31 weeks consecutive in the charts and was sold at more than 600 000 copies. It was the insert song of the Yoreru ice (glico) ad. In November Seiko released her third single “KAze Ha Akiiro” that is similar at Aoi Sangosho on the musical scheme. It was her first single that was number one in the charts. It was used for the Shiseido Ekubo ad and its b-side was the opening of the “Let’s Go Young” that was broadcasted by NHK. Everything was done to hear it. The title stayed 20 weeks in the 100 top and more than 700 000 copies was sold. The Matsuda engine was started. She has a lot of fans, they were all teens: girls & boys. Boys see Seiko as the ideal girlfriend and girls as a perfect model. Her haircut “dallassienne (from Dallas)” was so fashion and every young girl had the same one. Of course, success stirs up the hatred. It’s really rare that a young Japanese singer was attacked so much by tabloids, and even now. One of the first stories was almost created by female fans of Tahara Toshihiko very famous in the 80’ actor/singer and good friend of Seiko. Only friend but the hysterical fans of the handsome hunk imagined quickly that Seiko and he had a relationship. Seiko received a lot of threat of death letters that said all the way of sufferance she would have if she followed her relationship with Toshihiko.
Every great singer has her rival. In 1982, Nakamoi Akina start to sing. She is the worthy heiress of Yamaguchi Momoe in a lot of sectors (voice, attitudes, tragic face after), Akina scored, release single on single and Seiko is in her shadow. Akine didn’t put “marshmallow” (if someone can help me for that idiom) in her songs, it’s always variety but she has a serious face that Seiko doesn’t have. Both young girls never disliked. It’s their fans who fighted each together. In the middle of 80’, in Japan, as in 60’ in London with Stones, Beatles, people was ethier Akina’s fan or Seiko’s fan and the two clan who fighted with the speech and with the hands.
Contrary to what Akina’s fans might think, Seiko had privacy. You can see that because she had a relationship with Go Hiromi, a handsome guy who started his career in the start of 70’, he always sings today. Their happiness was really short: they brook quickly and a lot of tabloid wite a lot of bad thing on them, so they had to explain them in a press conference. The unofficial reason of their breaking-off was that Go wanted Seiko to stop her career after their wedding to become a yome. Note that Go come from Kyushu too and that men of that prefecture are famous in Japan to be despot and male chauvinist. Besides, his recent divorce confirms that proposal, because his ex-wife said that Go is only able to give orders and to look at himself in the mirror.
Seiko married two time and had two divorce. Her first wedding was with Kanda Masaki, an actor, in 25th June 1985 in St Saregio Church in Tokyo , there were 500 guests and that wedding was almost a national event. They went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Seiko got divorced on January 1997. She had a gril named Sayaka who was born on 1st October 1986. After her first divorce, she re-married the following year, in May 1998, with dentist, M Hatani. They got divorced in December 2000. Today, Seiko is single. The end of 80’ signaled the end of its idols. The fall started already with Seiko after 1987: sale decreased even if they were always satisfying. A new génération arrived. It’s the reign of Sakai Nokiro and other as Morikata Chisato. Music changed too, the rhythms speed up. But Seiko is always there, she fitted. A new Seiko…
I didn’t translate all that paragraph because the write give their opinion. I don’t like that kind of attitude because for me, a biography is a source of info.
Seiko follow her way. Some of her new songs are ok with the period as Anatani Aitakute-Missing you- in 1996 who was on the lips of everyboby. She is always in the TabloïdS. En 2006, Seiko and her daughter Sayaka who sings too even she’s not as good as than her mother, washed up their linen in public. After her meet with Masato the guitarist of Day After Tomorrow, Sayaka stop her career and decided to live with him. Her mother didn’t agree with her decision and order her to follow her career. Categorical refusal. So, Seiko fired Sayaka from the record label.
I didn’t translate the last three paragraphs because the writer gives his view again >.<

Singer-actress Matsuda Seiko (47, profile) has landed a role on the popular U.S. drama series "Bones," it was revealed yesterday. She plays the part of a Japanese journalist in series 5 of the Fox show, set to air from April. The series 4 box set is to go on sale in Japan next month and the Seiko connection is sure to help boost the show's popularity here. Producers say they were looking for a Japanese actor who would bring acting ability, English ability and name recognition to the role. In the U.S. Matsuda is seemingly referred to as the "Japanese Madonna," presumably based on her huge popularity in the 1980s. She made her U.S. recording debut in 1990 and had some modest chart success. She has since landed some small roles in Hollywood features, including the 1998 blockbuster "Armageddon."

Matsuda is said to have prepared for the Bones role while on a Japan tour at the end of last year, and went to the U.S. for two weeks' filming in early January. She follows in the footsteps of other domestic stars who have recently appeared in top U.S. dramas, such as Sanada Hiroyuki ("Lost") and Takeuchi Yuko ("Flash Forward").

Yoake, you are beyond amazing! Don't worry, your translation is fine.

SEIKO SCHEDULE:

2010.0x.xx: Seiko feature in an upcoming issue of the an・an magazine? Shoko Nakagawa mentions it in her blog.
2010.03.06: ESSE magazine will feature a special interview. "スペシャルインタビュー 松田聖子さん".
Unfortunately, to my disappointment, she will not be on the magazine front cover.

2010.04.01: Bones S05E15 "The Bones on the Blue Line".
2010.04.08: Bones S05E16 "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole".

2010.04.29: "Yazima Beauty Salon The Movie" premieres in theaters around Japan. Seiko acts as "Princess Seiko". It will be truly interesting, and rare, to see her with blonde hair (a wig obviously). Her role will probably be a minor one. I assume she will meet up with Yazima once they travel to Japan etc. Cast includes: DJ Ozma, Tunnels duo, Yusuke Yamamoto, Meisa Kuroki, Seiko and more. This will be a hilarious movie, no doubt. Seiko has always had a great chemistry with Tunnels. The movie theme song will be a collaboration between Yazima Beauty Salon and Seiko herself. Finally new music, eh? You can check out the trailer here: http://www.yazima.jp/trailer.html.

Quote:
So many times
I've decided to leave you
But everytime I look at your face
How can I stop loving you?

You panicked
And hung up on someone
I bite my lip
And smile sadly
How can I stop loving you?

Hold me, hold me in bed
On those stormy nights
Hold me, so my heart
Isn't blown away by the wind
Hold me, hold me

I dreamed
That I was living in an unknown city
When I woke, I looked for you
In the moonlight
How can I stop loving you?

Hold me, I have some news
I haven't told you yet
Hold me, and celebrate
The new life growing within me
Hold me, hold me

Hold me, hold me in bed
On those stormy nights

Hold me, so my heart
Isn't blown away by the wind
Hold me, hold me
Hold me, hold me
Hold me, hold me

Sorry, but I don't have Watashi Dake no Tenshi English lyrics. Here is another famous song translated though:

赤いスイートピー / Akai Sweet Pea / Red Sweet Pea
Quote:
Take me to the beach
On a spring-coloured train
I'll snuggle up to your shirt that smells of cigarettes
Why is it that it's been half a year
Since we met
And you still
Won't even hold my hand?

I will follow you
I want to follow you
I will follow you
Even though I'm a bit weak-willed
Because you're a wonderful person
My red sweet pea
Growing on the shore of my heart

Sitting together on the bench
At the station in the spring rain
There's no sign of anyone else
And suddenly things get awkward
Why is it that every time
You glance at your watch
I feel like crying?

I will follow you
In winged boots
I will follow you
I want to run
Through the same youth as you
The bud by the tracks
Is a red sweet pea

I love you more than anyone else
I've ever met
I will follow you
I love the way you live
I cant go home (I cant go home) like this
The day spring came in my heart
A red sweet pea grew

I'm glad you like my translation^^

O.O Seiko in blond! Wow it's rare when I found a blond japanses cute...But I can say it's good on her. However, I prefer brown hair.

The Daite performance is really amazing. That song is so nice!
