I don't know what they use, but they tend to say "400 people were polled" but sometimes numbers can climb into the high 500s if it's Arashi or something. I really don't know HOW / WHY that hapens, but I guess it'd be better to say that these NINKI numbers are a sort of index that comes from some other figure. Like if there's a high percentage of old people, their "yay I will buy it" counts as more... or something, haha.

The way they do it (I think) is that they have 80 people in each age group (teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s,) and there are 40 males and 40 females in each group. If Ayu isn't such a big hit with most of the people, you can't really expect her to get a high ranking. It just depends on who is polled and what their preferences are, I suppose, unless it's an artist that EVERYONE loves like Arashi or Mr. Children...

I suppose it's for people who only buy what's "in" and they can look at the NINKI to decide what to buy, haha.

No one even knows/cares about what Ninki is unless they have an Oricon fetish or something. It's really not a big deal here I don't think.

Then what's the highest you can get? I always assumed the ninki number was the number of people who responded positively out of the ones polled.
