SO PITY~~
I read about this and cried!
I feel so sorry for this girl and the people, who made her commit suicide, should be ashamed of themselves!!

@about the gifts: Wow...I didn't know about that! This is...crazy, like seriously! I would NEVER EVER buy something like a car or an instrument for an artist, even when I love him/her more than anything.

I think it would be better to support them by buying their releases!!

They are crazy and intense. I like Kpop but I'm not head over heels in love with it but some people just take things way too far.

I knew KPop fans are heavier than others, but I actually didn't know it is THAT bad!
It makes me anrgy and so sad at the same time. I mean fandom is about enjoying and sharing ypur favourite artists and bands.
I'm a bit speechless right now.

What scares me the most is the sasaeng ("stalker") fans .. They basically follow their idols all day and pay hundreds of dollars for special taxi drivers who tail their Oppa's car. You know it's too much when an idol tweets to ask girls to stop standing outside his dorm and yelling his name in the middle of the night

Oh and before someone starts bashing everything about kpop and its fandom (cos that's what always happens) .. Not all of us are like that. There are sane kpop fans out there and it sucks that we have to be grouped together with these maniacs

Don't worry! I think, we all know that there are also sane KPop-fans in the world!

The problem is, that bad things (in this case, crazy fans) tend to overshadow the good ones!

I wouldn't just say is the Korean fanbase. It's in general some fans go crazy over an artist that when you say oh I don't like this like a crapload of people go rawr on you.

It's not just K-pop, but you hear about it more so I guess people think K-pop fans are crazy. I never really venture past Omona, and even that's starting to get on my nerves tbh

I'm a K-Pop fan, and don't think I'll ever act like that. Some things that they do are just insane (a fan sending Taecyon a letter written in her period blood, that superglue thing with Yunho, etc.) It's crazy x-x But then again, the whole Korean music industry has been under a lot of, controversy?

haha, this thread made me laugh at how ridiculous some fans can be!

anyway, it reminds me of when BoA was debuting in the US and her fans went CRAZY over some of her promo photos and she had to scrap them! i feel the same way as most everyone else in this thread, jpop fans can be crazy, but in general it does seem like kpop has even crazier fans. i'm not sure why though, its very strange.

^ me too!

I, myself, am a K-pop fan too. I immensely love Korean songs especially ballads from Drama series. I go-gaga when I see Korean-related stuff but not as much as I do with J-pop. However, I try not to be very biased, crazy, etc. about my favorite artists especially bashing other artists.

I can't ever imagine that people were harmed because of this kind of fandom.

Seriously, I would enjoy K-pop if I didn't feel uncomfortable knowing all the crap the artists go through, how they're treated and now knowing how crazy the fans can be, even though I knew that already, but what's been revealed in here is just too much lol

Plus, I don't find the music that good But that's just me and my personal taste.

haha despite of the crazy fans... still, their music is conquering rite now~

ah talking about stalker fans..that's scary~
they even have name "ssassaeng", my friend told me that those fans are from rich family so that they won't even need to work or something..just to spend time to stalk their favorite artists.. they even hire taxi drivers for this stalking mission..
it's funny that sometimes, reporters don't need to have this paparazzi job u know.. so they just buy the pics from the fans. u know, most of the fans got DSLR type of cameras in any concerts/events, the result is always as good as the ones reporters take.

anyway, it's no use even though the artists themselves already feel annoying and rant it on twitter bout the stalker fans' behaviors, they still keep on going. XDD
they love their artists too much as they think that the artists are belong to them... but once they hate... coz u doing something bad, it'll turn 180 degrees to hate you~
it happened once with 2PM group when their leader out of the group. the fans threaten to spread the stalking pics also damage their CDs. things like that.

I cannot say much because all of you guys has been contributing to this topic

What I don't like is them worshiping their idols. Even though as Kpop fan I tend to love many musicians, like in JPop and some people in my country that loves Kpop find it weird because they mainly focus on one thing. And the way they act as if every song their idol has been releasing is perfect and their idols are perfect is just

This what I love when the fans are...sane?

Yeah, Sasaeng is the scariest thing I ever know about KPop besides the whole blood letter, glue drink, etc etc. I just didn't know how these people actually think :/

And the last point, I agree. That's what I hate about people outside Kpop that generalize things too much. I know the fandom is super intense and crazy but generalizing without seeing the whole picture is bad to the root.

And luckily I found AHS to be the right place to discuss Kpop without overly intense and eager fandom like in some forums

^Yes I love the K-Pop fans here!

even if I'm quite an active member @ affxtion, SFI or other kpop forums I only post my opinion after I read the news and never come back to the thread

shouldn't forget the scary stalkers and haters eh, I feel bad for the idols now

As for the crazy Western based kpop fans, I think for awhile they were living in the shadow of Jpop and Jpop fans, and so they built up this anti-Jpop thing and they were often times very defensive. Now that kpop is gaining popularity, they're moving into this whole "yeah we've always been better" "kpop ftw" "korea is the best" type of thing.

but that's just my own personal experience with them. korean based kpop fans, well, i know nothing about haha.
