Sorry, but this. I hate how Ayu seems to be settling for "just nice/okay" for her ballads for the past few years. I feel like Why... is just another example of how her discography has become so watered down with bland tracks over the past few years.

I actually liked the song the first few times I listened to it, and then I realized it was, as you said, boring, bland, uninspired, and forgettable. And seriously, why is she singing like that. She sounds so weird.

Boring, bland, uninspired and forgettable. Like half the ballads on I am... and basically every song on A Song for XX and LOVEppears.
And she's "singing like that" because she finally learned to sing again. She actually has vocal technique in this. Her early vocals were destroying her voice and her ~2006-2010 vocals often included lots of screaming.

Have you ever thought that Ayu might actually really love these types of songs, that they suit her mood? I seriously doubt she's like 'oh, this is a kinda alright song. lets release it!'
People act like all her ballads before 2006 or something were super unique and amazing. Like Dearest, I do love the song but it's generic as hell....just like this.
