you can be married yet separated and still date. some people don't have the immediate funds for a divorce, though i'm not entierly sure if Maro-chan applies to this, lol.

i know somebody in that situation now. she's in a serious relationship but is mutually separated from her "husband" because she simply cannot afford a divorce right now. i don't think that's really anything to have against him though.
