Arashi wins 'Artist of the Year' for 'THE JAPAN GOLD DISC AWARD'

The winners of "THE 29TH JAPAN GOLD DISC AWARD" have been revealed.

The awards are held annually by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). Awards are based on sales number, and the winners of this year were chosen from data compiled between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.

This year, the 'Artist of the Year' award, which is considered to be the 'grand prize', went to Arashi. This is their first time in 4 years, and also their 3rd total time to receive this award.

Arashi top Oricon's weekly single, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc rankings

Popular group Arashi's 45th single "Sakura" (released on February 25) sold 465,000 copies in the first week and topped Oricon weekly single ranking.

"Sakura" is the group's 34th consecutive (and 41st in total) No.1 single, so the fans may not be surprised with the result. However, this week, the group also topped both weekly DVD and Blu-ray Disc rankings with their starring movie "PIKA☆★☆NCHI LIFE IS HARD Tabun HAPPY" which went on sale on the same day as the single.

The first week sales for the DVD and Blu-ray Disc were 72,000 copies and 88,000 copies respectively. The first week sales of 88,000 copies is the highest record for any Japanese movie on BD.

Although topping CD, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc rankings at the same time has been achieved by Mr.Children (in 2012), Shoujo Jidai (in 2012) and Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE (in 2014) previously, it was with their musical works. Therefore, Arashi is the first one to top those three rankings simultaneously both with the musical work and video work.

The scenery, lighting, the boys (...who are looking sooo good!

)....I'm totally loving everything about this PV, so far.

Need the full PV, like....now!

I'm so very happy to hear, that Arashi's going to perform "Sakura" again on MUSIC STATION, next week!

Yesterday's performance was so amazing (and sexy!

) that I'm totally looking forward to watching another one.

And speaking of "Sakura", I've just watched the full PV & it's such simple perfection.

Literally! The PV may be pretty simple, but I thought the setting/scenery of it all was so cool, mysterious, dark, etc...

And those different backgrounds sure were beautiful, too! Especially the ending, where all the sakura blossoms flew everywhere.

And speaking of which, I just loooved that scene of Matsujun blowing the sakura blossoms.

That probably was my favorite scene, lol!

And I have to say, before I forget, Arashi all looked toooo good in the PV.

They are all just so handsome!!!

So overall, I've totally loved the PV & "Sakura", as a song itself, is so amazing, now that I've heard it in full.

It's absolutely the perfect single to start 2015 off, with.

Arashi's new "Puzzle & Dragons" CM hijacks TV stations
