I can totally see her changing the concept of the album based on what happened in Japan. I'm not saying that in a bad way, but for example I always wanted to know what was her first idea for the I am... album, before the whole 9/11 happened in the US

It was something similar, if not that. Ayu described the concept as initially being "fake Japanese/Japan through the eyes of a foreigner".

Didn't she plan for the I am... cover to be the same as/similar to Dearest's? Kind of like how appears/LOVEppears and SURREAL/Duty covers are similar.

If the initial plan for the covers was the ayu-mi-x 4 covers then that's awesome because those covers are the shit.

I doubt it, because if that was the case, it wouldn't have been changed : the cover style of Dearest is quite peaceful and pure.
