OMG I want to watch W FACE PV and have the DVD too.

I love how she always displays her set list after the concert!

I did not know she wanted Okay to have a PV - love that song!

Looking forward to the W Face PV even though I'm still about 75/25 on that song. I just hate the lyrics and can't believe Kuu wrote them. There's just too much Internet slang in the song for my liking. If she sung it in Japanese at least I couldn't understand them and it wouldn't sound so cringey to me! Yet the music and verses are great!

well yasss bitch/slay is actually a drag queen slang, the white folks just stole it like they do with mostly anything from gay and especially black culture...
it's not cringy in it's original meaning, but the mainstream overusing it

do you still listen? has your opinion changed? how do you rank it?

I'm white and gay, and I honestly don't hear many white people use it.

And I think I speak for everyone when I say that opinions on race issues really don't belong anywhere on AHS. We're an extremely diverse group of people who have a common interest in Japanese (and increasingly Korean and Chinese) music culture. I'm fine with you mentioning that its origins come from gay culture (specifically the queens of color), but talking about "white folks" stealing mostly anything from gay and especially black culture undermines the fact that you're on a forum with a lot of white people who clearly care a lot about non-white artists and cultures.

I'm strongly into drag culture and men who wear makeup. I hear "yas bitch" a lot. So it didn't bother me much. I was happy that she was using slang from a community I have so much love for.

I am never the person to whine about cultural appropriation, because I think it's beautiful when cultures are inspired by one another. But, let's not get it twisted. AHS is a forum of white people who love Asian stuff lol. The only reason it's exempt from talking about culture issues is because I'm pretty sure it's just not allowed.

And don't ever say you think you speak for everyone. You don't.

Sometimes I do. Like now. I'll speak for mods, for you, for everyone: You guys can't even keep it together over Zeke. expressing a negative opinion about a song you like. I doubt there is a single person here who thinks we are all equipped with the maturity to talk about something as serious as cultural appropriation without dozens of people ending up permabanned.

Edit: And on a relevant Koda note, I happen to think the Yaas bitch, yaas bitch part of W FACE may be tacky in a year or two, but it's fun for right now. I'm glad she went for it.

Crank Tha Bass had a live background movie clip made which's included in Koda Kumi Hall Tour 2014 ~Bon Voyage~

Based on the image , I don't think the W FACE PV DVD will have an actual cover . It's like Namie's Golden Touch PV DVD with a simple jewel CD casing

It's hard to tell how much W FACE will end up selling overall since with the campaign for the W FACE PV DVD is only for the venue sales. The album is still selling fine, but DHit's numbers are a little disappointing.

Thanks for the numbers. I wonder how large Kumi's fan-base is in Japan right now, not that it matters to me just curious. I'm guessing 50 - 60k+ people. Clearly that 99% of the fans bought both inside & outside and W FACE will most likely going to sell about 30k copies each version. Although in today's music world number of physical copies sold doesn't mean anything, I think Kumi is more like Cher & Madonna now. People love her persona & live shows but only buy selected songs or just stream her music. I mean, Avex is releasing so much KLoop merchandise (3rd or 4th plush series, KLoop hats, KLoop pillows, tissue box covers, etc), clearly it sells well. I also read that her LOVE NOTE series are the most popular fragrances produced by a celebrity in Japan. Makes sense, she just celebrated 4th anniversary with a special box and man, LOVE TOUCH body cream smells SO EFFIN' GOOD. I wanna get like 10 more. It sucks I can't import that unisex Eternalux...

Does anyone know the capacity of the halls in Japan where she performing?

oh and W FACE MV will most likely have the same simple packaging DITR & Shhh! had according to that photo.

We also have to keep in mind that Kuu has stopped releasing and promoting singles the way she used to. Her albums use to have at least 2-3 moderate hits to attract the general public but that ended after Bon Voyage. I hope she'll release singles for the upcoming era, not just to help album sales but also because her single PVs usually have a better budget and keep things exciting in between albums.
