Exclamation Chrono Cross OST rereleased!

At last! I'd almost given up hope! Yasunori Mitsuda's *brilliant* soundtrack to the *brilliant* PlayStation game Chrono Cross was released in 1999 but sold out quickly thereafter and soon became one of the most sought-after game soundtracks around. However, oh my, I still can't believe this, it's getting a RERELEASE! CocoeBiz will release the 3-Disc soundtrack on July 29th 2005 and it's already up at their website so you can pre-order (find it here). Naturally, I immediately pre-ordered it. A dream come true!

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I screamed for joy when I read the news on Square-Enix's page. Finally, for once they're doing something right. =)

Wow, thanks for the heads up! I hadn't noticed they had were going to be selling it again as well and had immediately ordered from CocoeBiz. Cancelled my order there and ordered the Chrono Cross OST ánd Shiina Ringo's Mayonaka Wa Junketsu at Yesasia, costing just as much as the Chrono Cross OST alone + shipping at CocoeBiz - and of course, free shipping over at Yesasia.

I wouldn't call the game 'brilliant' myself , unfortunately

sure the game's still good & very enjoyable , but it's was a let-down compared to Chrono Trigger. The stroy in CC is too shallow , only like a couple of the 44 or so characters even have a story of somesort , and the main story plot is kinda weak too.

CC has great graphics , great gameplay , really good music & interesting ideas (the paraller dimensions or whatever). Too it doesn't have a great plot to match the other good qualities.

oh , if you haven't already I really suggest you play CC's other prequel besides Chrono Trigger , called Radical Dreamers. You'll have on your comp tho ( use SNES emulator) It's only released in Japan to some bizarre add-on thing to SNES which let you download the game from cable-network or something? There's an fan-made english translation available.
the game plays like an "choose-your-own-adventure"-book , but it's different and fun in my opinion. and adds a lot of depth to CC's story

That's personal, I guess. I personally love Chrono Cross and on the whole, I prefer it over Chrono Trigger. I think the story in Chrono Cross was great. A bunch of the minor characters didn't have much of a story, but that doesn't immediately mean that the overall plot is bad. In fact, I think it was incredible. My jaw dropped numerous times throughout the game. My favorite game ever.

So indeed, very personal, although Chrono Cross got rave reviews really (10.0 at GameSpot, 9.9 at IGN). Don't get me wrong, Chrono Trigger was excellent, but I just prefer Chrono Cross. I thought it was very touching, heart-felt, etcetera, yatta, you know. The music really helped the game, too, I consider it to be the best game soundtrack around (some other favorites of mine are the soundtracks to Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy Tactics & VII, and Spyro 2 - shame that one never got released, but the Chrono Cross OST stands out).

And yes, I'm familiar with Radical Dreamers. I <3 the whole Chrono saga, so obviously.
