It depends on what kind of music.

Mainstream western music is absolutely pathetic in terms of creativity. All the rap songs are about sex, all the r&b songs are about cheating, and pop is just miserable to listen to now.

I'm going to go with western music being more creative though because there are so many non-top 40 bands that are awesome. Underground bands are great too. You just can't base western music with what comes on on the radio.

Exactly...they are J pop. They are all Japanese and popular...

Ringo's band's latest album sold 100+ copies, Ayu's sold 300+ and I believe Hikki's sold 500+? That alone shows that they're "pop".

I lovee Asian music a lot more than Western music... But, Western music is a lot more creative in all aspects! and the Asian industry in general seems to get ideas out of them

And I also feel that there's more variety in Western music where to pick from... Asian music is very much all similar if not the same :/ seems to be so xD

Going beyond the pop music genre I'd have to say western music. Just think it's generally much deeper.

when i look at korean music and half of japanese music its soooo similar. like boy bands lol. why would i say asian is mroe creative. its so simple just that certain japanese artists in my opinion are creative, but as a whole not really.

western music can have many variations. . .to me its like a tie. like neither.

rock music however. thats a whole different story.

edit: v-kei is much more creative than jpop

I like classical music. That is western but it is not popular... It is so beautiful. Unfortunately, all popular western music (Including the Beatles. They were the first to make garbage music a popular thing!) is trash.

asian pop music is no different. especially popular korean music... Sounds just like American trash.
In Japanese pop, Ayumi is really the only exception to me. Except her voice nowadays. I like classical Japanese music though. Beautiful!
EDIT: Sorry. all that was unrelated to the topic question...

Anyway, there is nothing creative about pop music. Lady gaga is not creative. She is shocking! But not creative, by any means. Ayumi is not creative either. She is alluring and beautiful, but not creative. I say neither!

i voted for asian , but that was only cause japanese music fits in there, i could careless about chinese/korean music. dont like it and never will, just like i dont like western music.

as for western music, i really dont listen to any of it, out of my over 20k mp3 songs on my pc, only 10 song are in english. and i doubt western music has change for better since 1999 - 2010.

i also find it funny how you cant accept other people opinion. btw i never said eastern was better, just that i like japanese music over anything else.
and from the looks of things afrer reading all 11 pages you seem to think western -->> eastern and thats fine.now get over the opinions of other people.

and while i dont listen to american/western music, atleast i can say i gave it a try back in 1999, i dont just dislike something with out giving it a try.

i have my two younger sister to keep me in check with that, forgot to add that. but if i like a song that i happen to hear"rare" i would buy it, even if its western.

so my opinion on western music"english", dont like it but dont hate it,cuz if that were the case i would also hate latin music.

I personally favor eastern music (more specifically Japanese) over western music. I find a lot of western music to be unoriginal and repetitive. I don't actively listen to western music as much as I used to but my opinion stems from what I've listened to over the years as well as what's current. Do I dislike all western music? No. There are a few artists that I like but I prefer listening to artists like Anna Tsuchiya, Ayumi Hamasaki, as well as others who make music that doesn't sound like everything I've heard before.

Asian...I find some really amazing and creative stuff.......

There's some good Western stuff as well, but I tend to find more originality in Asian music.

^ Thinking more along the lines of instead of enjoying music for being music then picking it apart to find some hidden meaning. Oscar Wilde-esque outlook.

Overall I would have to say I find western music more enjoyable. I think when it comes to asian music there are really only a handful of artists who truly are unique and the rest are just clones or copies. There is always a huge saturation of the same style in asian music, take for example girl bands in Kpop, there are so many and only a couple are actually decent.

I'll go off of what I listen to most and that's western.

You have to remember, western and eastern doesn't just mean right now and what's mainstream. It means ten years ago, twenty, thirty, whatever. And it doesn't just mean what comes on the radio. So when I say western, I don't mean crap like Jason Derulo or Lady GaGa.
