technically it wasn't a cover.
here's a quote of myself in another thread.

"^well, technically it can be thought of as a cover because the original composer (Nosheen), who made the demo, made a music video for her version of the song. so some people argue that she "promoted it" so it's her song.

but in reality Nosheen's was just a demo and Kumi and avex have the rights to the song.

That was a lovely video! Basically the girl got selected to become Koda Kumi's backdancer but she had to have one more dance audition and they would decide if she would become one. Unfortunately for Manami she didn't get a yes on that letter, and there was another card sended by Koda Kumi personally where she just wrote to her sweet things like not to give up her dream becoming a back dancer because of what happened and that they might dance along side someday etc. And during that live for fanclub event Koda Kumi surprised Manami, as a christmas present, to dance with her during Lick me on that day. After that she talked with Manami again to not give up, how Manami is quite chatty and her pose during that dance was cute etc. Kuu-chan sure knows how to make up for something and make that person feel good again I'm kind of sad the girl didn't get picked, she's cute and she did better on her second try but she wasn't perfect with the cheography I suppose.

^oh yeah i just noticed jbrats post. Alive isn't a cover either. but it did sample a certain classical piece. but it's definiately not a cover.

and that's so sweet of Kumi to do that. even without a translation, i was able to get the gist of it, but thanks for summarizing and making it clearer Tsubasa.
didn't she mess up during her second try though? the one on stage?

She spoke so sweetly to the girl who wanted to become her backup dancer ;-; It's really more things like that that make me like Kuu, especially the letter she wrote to her. If anyone is curious I can translate it though the gist of it is captured throughout the video.

The surprise video is sweet *i cried a little *
Being a backup dancer isn't easy..
She was asked, how long does she need to train the choreo, and she answered 2 hours. I think that's too long for a dancer (pro) to memorize only 1 choreo. Meanwhile, we know how crazy our Kuu is with the choreo & stuffs.
But that girl did a good job! and she was really happy
When Kuu asked her: how was it?
She said: Up until now (as long as she lives) this was the happiest thing ever.. aw..

And i love how Kuu keeps encourage her not to give up; because i think Kuu knows really well how hard to reach her dream. We all know, how many times did Kuu fail the audition to become a singer before.

But i just realize, by searching new backup dancer, means that she changes her old dancer or?

I think it's from a new singer and she is called christy. The cover is from her single Sakura~Sakurap.

But when I saw the cover I realized that she kinda look like our Kumi What do you think?

It did look like kuu first but after looking it for a while it doesn't look like her anymore
