This is one of the most selfish and nonsense comments that I've seen lately coming out of AHS. And it makes me sad to see some people's way of thinking, makes me believe even more that this World is ****ed up. EDIT: I mean, you are asking her EVEN MORE? Are you serious? Do you even ask yourself that much? All the people out there thinking the same way as this individual, Do you ask yourselves as much as you ask others? seriously get a life. This is for the Spaniards that do not understand it in English Spoiler:

Oricon has lost some of its credibility anyway, due to a scandal that involved a certain firm (I can't remember which) accusing Oricon of inflating Johnny's artist sales and sometimes even decreasing the sales of others to make Johnny no. 1. (There was an example with a Johnny's group and Porno Graffitti, I'll try to find the site."
Many find Soundscan to be more reliable, BUT it doesn't nearly have as many information suppliers so the overall numbers are lower and it's harder to track because they chart every single version seperately. |

I think it's interesting how sales charts in Japan and in America (Billboard) are both strange and kinda flawed in their own way. I'm not sure if people realize that, either! A lot of people don't bother with physical copies of CDs these days unless they specifically want album art or photobooks, maybe the PV DVDs that come with it -- the casual listener (or the less luxurious/can't afford it listener ^^; ) of Ayu probably only wants the "meat" -- her songs and videos. Which they can buy off of iTunes for less than they could get in a store, getting the physical copy of the CD/DVD. To me it makes total sense not to go out and buy a CD when you can get the same thing on iTunes. Easy access, cheaper than the in store purchase.... Photobooks can only persuade some people for so long, and I don't think the average music-listener/buyer really cares all that much for them in the end. (I'm talking about people who aren't like us here on AHS, who just want the songs and PVs and don't really care how pretty Ayu is in this shoot or what clothes she wears in that set XD) I think if physical CDs want to learn how to survive in this shifting to digital market, they'll either have to make something reaaaaaaaally nice/exclusive for physical releases or just learn to bow out quietly, with dignity. All in all, it's important to bear in mind that Oricon isn't a measure of Ayu's album's success

After listening to the album I quickly began to tire of it. The only songs I actually listen to repeatedly are 'Sunset', 'Ballad', and 'Sunrise'. But going back to what truhappiness said, I guess I need to let the album grow on me. Hell, it took two years for 'Guilty' to grow on me and I thought it was her worst album ever. Now it's one of my top favorite ayu albums. Oh well, we shall see. For now I'll blast 'Next Level' in my car.

Ayu's sales are fine. If you think sales figures are low then you have no idea what state record sales in Japan are in.
To put into perspective, Tohoshinki's Best Selection album hasn't even reached 600,000 in sales (not shipment) yet and that's even when fans know it's possibly going to be their last album as a group of 5. Anyway I'm not surprised. Every time Ayu releases an album/single, there will always be pple who start to diss her using her sales figures as "proof". So standard behaviour it's already old. |

It's just certainly nice seeing her at the top of the charts, but the actual figure doesn't mean very much. Her sales are considered low right now, and yet she's still got a decent amount of distance from whoever is #2 |

yay it didn't drop that much!!
hope it will stay around there tomorrow too ~~~~i don't think oricon is accurate, cannot be they account for EVERY SINGLE CD sold right? Japan is sooooo big.

It's not just that; it's the fact that a lot of people aren't always interested in having physical copies, which is what oricon counts. Digital buying isn't counted by oricon, and these days that's what people do.

there's a definite line these days between super high sellers, really good sellers and then just normal sellers that can't reach 100,000... I think Ayu's sales are fine!! Actually I don't really care.... as long as I still get to buy her CD's!! lol |

![]() A song from PAST<FUTURE called "the meaning of us" has been doing great despite the album being over 4 months old, due to it being the theme of a bee tv drama. Had Namie released it as a re-cut single it would of done amazing. At the beginning of the month the song was still in the top 30 Chaku-uta charts. It's hard to have "hits" when you never release singles that are properly promoted. According to you "It's not her music that's truly popular.", all the people buying her latest album and tour dvd would probably disagree with you Having just a good image will not take you as far as Namie has come in the past 3 years.

^ lol i wouldn't even bother. he has a bad reputation in regards to namie (just ask anyone on jpm)
currently namie is more popular than ayu in every single way ok? that could all change in a matter of months though. the end also i don't mean to be a downer for this itunes discussion but...itunes isn't that popular in japan. there are a lot of other more popular digital stores that people use over itunes.
