I kinda agree with who said she repeat herself sometimes.
I mean, most of her lyrics nowadays are about 'please take my hand and look at my wings, we're all under the same sky' well something like that.
But it's not a bad thing though, every songwriters has their own theme. And as for a mainstream pop singer Ayu's doing a very good job about writing songs overall imo.

Yeah definitely a lot of the same themes and actually I prefer her older lyrics most of the time (No way to say, HANABI, Moments, is this LOVE?, Because of you). Although I love Sending mail's and November's lyrics

Thought twins.

I get every lyricist has their own themes they like to talk about and symbols to express their mind, but the repetition of wings, being under the same sky, and smiles has passed that point. It's almost every song speaking of the same subject over and over. It wasn't until Love songs that I've been impressed by her lyrics.

The best compliment I ever heard!!!

I also agree that some times Ayu's lyrics are some way repeating but I think it's OK. It's Ayu anyway. But I prefer her earlier lyrics.

I think her lyrics have mature meanings but i agree they're grammatically simple. The simplicity in the texts is quite common among all the pop artistes anyway.

I think that the "modern culture" or what people want to think to be the modern culture; has already adopted that songs should be about sex, drugs and gangsters and stuff. If I would tell my friends/classmates/family that I listen to Japanese songs, they would think that I went crazy into one of my animes I'm watching currently.

Everyone finds it the standard to have songs with kinda harsh and darker toned lyrics. When I (for the first time) went on internet to check one of her songs' lyrics. (that was Rule), I also thought ; huh what the ... I found it to be weird (and childish a bit)

But that was because I listened to songs from Usher,2pac (i typed 3pac haha), kesha, chrisbrown, rihanna and stuff so you are not used to this kind of lyrics.

Anyhow, now they grew up on me and I love it . Although I think that it's time to step up from the "sad songs" lyrics especially the "we were crying weren't we" kind of lyrics.

I also think that the themes of her songs repeat themselves sometimes, and more often lately, but that's ok to me.
By writing lyrics, you can only reflect what you see and feel in that very moment.
Of course some of her older lyrics are impressive and unique. But most of them were talking about sad or dark feelings in general, and imo it always looks more intense to write about those. Also, of course if you have a strong emotion and write it down, the listener will feel that in the final song. I guess it also has to do something with what you look for in a song as the listener, or how you yourself feel atm.
If she is happy now, then I am happy for her and appreciate her happy songs. I think it's natural that when you grow up, you are not in that state of confused feelings anymore, at least not all the time.
Plus, for writing about those themes she does nowadays, ayu still manages to convey that spark all her songs have. At least to me

It doesnt matter how old she was when she wrote the lyrics. As long as people like it and that's what really matters the most. Isnt it?

She's wrote like a billion songs. Call me horrible, but I would of given up by now aha. Sure, some are repetitive, and I can understand why people that are casual listeners would be put off by that.
