I would have to say in terms of satisfaction though, ayu-trance 4 really was a disappointment. The only song I truly loved on there and felt like "Ah, I needed this in my life" was the SEASONS remix. Days was terrible, Carols was boring (considering the STF Remix is gold), I liked Far away, monochrome and poker face, but vogue was so over-rated. The remixes were all so predictable and really DATED sounding. I mean really, when all was said and done the only thing I could say was "Well I'm glad this was released or I never would have had this amazing remix of SEASONS." SEASONS and Days were the only ones that had that modern trance sound to them (but as mentioned I hated Days).

Yepp, I think it's one of the best ayu-mi-x albums. The "GAME" remix has the heaviest bassline ever.

They do, indeed.

In fact, you cannot judge a trance remix when the only thing you heard of it is a tiny 4 minute cut-version from a non-stop mix album. Trance remixes need their time to built up and 7 to 8 minutes are basically standard when we talk about the length of songs.

Some Ayu remixes are over 10 minutes long and it works perfectly. For example Dj Amaya's remixes often are that big, that you need about 30 minutes for just three songs and it flows really well.

I usually never listen to the non-stop version of ayu remixes as long as there are extended ones available (specially talking about ayu-mi-x 6 and ayu-mi-x 7 version HOUSE and trance).

its funny a lot of people hate the evolution "oriental hot spa mix" because while i never felt much either way for it, i remember when i was in college my roommate HATED that remix.

I dislike the ayu-mi-x 7 trance cd....days and carols are the only good remixes on the cd....the other songs are crap....
AT7 isn't so bad. Granted it's not as good as AT2, but it flows pretty well. I think it could've done with more upbeat songs to work with but it was a great effort. I think all of that set was pretty good, although my faves are the House and Euro discs I'm personally over Acoustics for now, though... xD

I guess I hyped it up a lot myself, but Ayu-mi-x 7 was kind of dissapointing. A lot of the tracks just felt like the remixers had been über lazy and not done anything with the vocal track (especially on the trance album). I can't stand listening to the Eurobeat album, it reminds me way too much of para-para. I tried to like it, but I can never listen to even one full song on it. The house album? Major dissapointment. I love house and I expected way more in terms of creativity on that. Imo, that Virgin road EVERLUST remix is a joke. At least the MAD PROFESSOR remix had some thought/creativity behind it. I guess what I want to say, is that the worst remix for me has to be one of the Ayu-mi-x 7 ones. Complete lack of enthusiasm in some of the mixes. Changing opinion after some afterthought

What. Scuse.
Glitter was an awesome classic house mix. Like the house you had in the early 90s at the west coast.

Happy Ending may be very experimental but it is one of my favorite tracks on ayu-mi-x 6. There are not a lot of people who are familiar with the glitch genre and that one definitely did a great job on mixing it with dub. Mad Professor knows what he is doing. It may not be danceable or mainstream, but it is definetly a soundscape experience. Music you listen to because you want to experience the actual sound.

What people probably threw off on Grateful Days was the heavy play on using her voice as an instrument, I guess. Her voice sounded very abrupt and sharp used like this, but still a great track.

Fated and No way to say.... well, it's d'n'b. You gotta get into the feeling of urban life to enjoy it to the max. Imagine yourself watching the towns at night after a rainfall. That's when those songs kick in.

And Two of us had a lazy hip hop beat. Feel yourself swinging life away on your tiny balcony.

ARGH. I sometimes wish people would at least explain why exactly they don't like a song. Because half of the time I'm not able to relate to the decisions.

I really, REALLY hate the Mirrorcle World remix done last year (on ayu-mi-x 7 HOUSE ver). I expected something awesome but instead I got something not awesome. + Rule (remo-con-tech remix) from Rule/Sparkle.

Well first of all, I hate house. Especially that early house junk that is so influenced by disco and "funk" so it's no surprise why I hated that glitter remix as well.

Although it makes sense what you are saying about HAPPY ENDING, I know a lot of people were disappointed because they were expecting something completely different. It's not very friendly to or easy on the ears. I will say though I listened to it while under the influence and it was quite an experience - it kinda freaked me out a bit, haha.

As far as Greatful Days, I love it when remixers use the voice as an instrument. Say for example in "Naturally (Wippenberg Remix)" - the stutter effect the use with her vocals is out of this world. I am foaming at the mouth just thinking about it, hearing bounce around and echo into my brain. The problem isn't the use of her voice as an instrument, it's the fact that it is so repetitive. Using the same vocal repetition with virtually no change in melody. Finally when they lay her untouched vocals from the chorus over top the edited vocals is when it becomes a bit more listenable, but those edited vocals being used as an "instrument" are still at the forefront - they need to be secondary - a lot quieter and allow the untouched chorus to be at the forefront. Finally toward the end an actual melody is thrown into the mix and then... the song ends. It had real potential.

fated, well, I will admit I grew to love fated. I used to hate that d'n'b sound, but it works quite nicely they way they worked it into these remixes. I always imagine the sound racing and "jumping" during certain parts - like racing through the sky or a landscape / soundscape. It paints a very interesting audial picture. No way to say is less enjoyable than fated, but still something I don't mind listening to.

I think a main component as to why many people seem to not like ayu-mi-x 6 is that it was not anything anyone was expecting... at all. ayu-mi-x 6 was very modern underground almost it seemed. Usually a great remix will take a certain element of a song, and use that element to elaborate and create something beautiful but something that makes complete sense given the original track. However, some of these remixes really came out of the blue, but you know, for the most part they made it work. HAPPY ENDING is a haunting track, so I see what MAD PROFESSOR was trying to convey. But yes, people's expectations for this release is really what changed the whole perspective of things. For me, it was a nice change of pace. Yes, there are some remixes I hate on this release, but overall, I did not mind ayu-mi-x 6. In my opinion, it's much better than ayu-mi-x 7 which suffers from being "too safe" with arguably every single remix.

For the record though, STEP you and Beautiful Fighters remixes on ayu-mi-6 are my favorites! Also, I for one, loved the eurobeat disc. STEP you, Sunrise, glitter, SURREAL - they were done extremely well. Depend on you just might be my favorite though (close call with STEP you, although STEP you got old fast) - it was very detailed in it's production and using slight hints of other electronic dance music sub-genres to really make it a standout remix on that disc.

BTW, that remix of Virgin Road... it's the only way I can listen to Virgin Road. The original is just... highly over-rated imo and I shake my head every time I hear it begin and then I quickly snatch up my iPod to change the song to something much more worthwhile.

It's simple. I HATE dubstep, and whatever you want to call the "style" of mad professor. Just sounds HORRIBLE to me.
