The period leading up to "I am..." was absolutely it. I think back to the whole of 2001 very, very fondly. That year, it was really fun to be an Ayu fan. The tension, the speculation & rumored tracklists, the waiting, the plethora of new material, Dome Tour, Tu-Ka, fox tails, A BEST, Dearest/Inuyasha, "the other side" and "excerpts," Ayu Trance & ayu-ro mix 2...

That whole year, man. That whole freaking year.

Depend on You and RAINBOW

Both helped me through some tough personal issues and gave me confidence to move on and away from what was not helpful for my future.

They're just perfect songs to me, really.

the excerpts of ayumix was the first thing I heard of ayumi and then I heard I am...
every time I listen to the excerpts it takes me back when my uncle didn't want me to
touch his ayumi cds but I did anyways and it was the best thing I did.

It was Ayu's live performance of "M" in MTV asia award which I hated so much, but months later I heard "Voyage" and fallen in love! I just couldn't believe it was from the same singer. Then I got A Best and I Am, voila! I became a FAN! So..the song "Voyage", the albums; A Best and I am are the most nostalgic release for me.

Whenever I listen to anything pre-Memorial Address. My favorite songs of her's aren't necessarily from that time period, but that's when I most enjoyed following Ayu. The hype was bigger and more spectacular. And I feel so much more raw emotion and creativity in her earlier songs than I do in her new songs.

Particular songs that make me feel really nostalgic are Moments, TO BE, girlish (it doesn't get enough love), Connected (I don't even like this song!), and We Wish.

Also, whenever I listen to her A Song for XX album I feel super nostalgic about 1990s Japan lol. I actually love A Song for XX, probably because I love 90s music of all sorts haha.

The song that is most nostalgic for me is Fly high. It was the first Ayu song I'd ever heard and I found it by complete accident, funny how that spawned nearly 11 years of fandom for me . I'm still in love with it today as much as I was then.

evolution was the first song of hers to really blow my mind (I listened to it not too long after Fly high). I remember having that song on repeat whenever I had the chance. It was also the first PV I saw, too!

RAINBOW. Because it was the first Ayu album I actually bought. I remember being SO excited for it to arrive and listening to it non stop when I got it. I actually managed to damage that copy a few years ago and had to get a new one... Can't have it ruining the look of my collection...

And lastly... Arena Tour 2003-2004. Once again, it was the first concert of hers I'd ever watched and I loved every bit of it. I can never forget that epic performance of Memorial address... It just solidified me as a fan.

Depend on you was the first song I've heard from her, and M being the first PV. Man, I just missed a lot of her older (2003-2007) stuff.

Depend on you, brings back memories to a simple time where all i did was chill with my sisters and play thousand arms (+more video games) after that STEP you as it was at a time where i started to pay more attention to Jpop and not just the opening themes they serve etc. Fly high also for some reason...

Heaven, because it was the first song by Ayumi that I ever heard.
A song for XX, because the lyrics have a personal impact on me.

Probably (miss)understood since it was my first Ayu album ^-^
All her early albums give me nostalgia, especially I am... since it has her "biggest hits". For some reason, Colours brings me nostalgia xD

I think the NEXT LEVEL album is the most nostalgic to me.
A Complete is also a contender.
The whole 2008-2010 era is nostalgic to me.
