That is a good point about their views on "women making babies" but isn't it true that the population is overwhelmingly elderly? Wouldn't that go to say that they haven't been having as many children?

^ lol, I understand it's somewhat of a brash remark to make, but to "report" the person for it? I just have to laugh at the whole "I'm reporting you" thing. It's like effing five year olds "I'm telling!!"

C'mon Zek, I'm reporting because the comment was unjustified and unnecessary (and partly because im a fan of Gaga as well y'know it just seem more offensive to me than a neutral music goer - imagine if it's an article spreading hate about Ayu?

I'd rather people report things that cause drama than...well, it ending up into comment trains like this. Stating you're going to report someone pretty much undermines the point of reporting it, but it's appreciated nonetheless.

I know, I'm kind of hoping it's true. XD I can't help but think the idea of her being worth way more money than some of those people to be awesome.

If she truly is worth that much, it's easy to say she's freakin worked her butt of for it!

Maybe this is a reason the general public dislikes ayu. I think Japan is a society that is very business-driven and they see ayu as greedy. I think they believe she has amassed so much money and continues to work so she is thought of as "why does she continue to bother"? I don't think Japanese in general believe in pursuing "passions" so maybe there is a disconnect as to why ayu continues to do what she does. It is not that she wishes to continue growing her fortune as much as it is the fact that she truly loves doing what she does more than any amount of money could ever bring her satisfaction.

This is not entirely true. The way it was explained to me when I was in Japan was that: The Artist themselves are the ones that buy out the arenas and then turn around and sell the tickets (the reason why the fan clubs get so many and such a god rate).
Not to say this is EVERY case, because it could depend on contracts, but I was told it is a common practice.

You would think that the hard working/never wanting to take a break japanese people would like her more because she is still doing what she is doing.

Honestly I think it has so much to do with her age and the fact that she is a woman. Japan is still in the mind set that women need to be at home 'making babies'

One of the sad things I see with Japan, is there behind closed doors attitude towards stuff like this, but that does seem to be changing with the times and the youths of Japan

That's a very cool and interesting incite. It sounds pretty legit to me.

And it's what makes Ayu so cool: she's pursuing something she's unendingly passionate about.

Indeed, Japan is having less children... and that's in part because all of a sudden even women are working in jobs that are traditionally held by men (and at similarly long hours), leaving far less time for dating, marriage, and gettin' it on. But that shift has been EXTREMELY swift, and only over the last 15-20 years or so. For example, when Ayu met Mikajohn, her position as the head of a company was INCREDBILY unusual and is one of the reasons Ayu liked her - these days, women are in charge of alot more companies, but the conservative mindset is still very very pervasive. It seems paradoxical but mindsets about what's normal and acceptable tend to change well after the societal change that one would expect to come FROM that mindset. ...If that sentence made any sense. lol

It makes total sense... its weird, but when it comes to the culture it seems to change rather quickly, but when it comes to the 'power' of that culture... it changes rather slow because the people in power are the elderly or the older generations so the actually "progress" of a movement is always slow.

The bigger they are the harder they fall. Britney Spears, Madonna, Lady Gaga all have a huge fan base, and a huge hater base. Ayumi is up there with them. It's just how it works. She's a pop star and people hate anything that's popular or goes with the trend.
