well in the chinese media, mostly every foreign celebrities' name are said in Chinese...and besides, the CMs are selling to chinese audience, so if you say Ayumi Hamasaki and they have no idea who that is, then that marketing director should be shunned
and trust me, ayu's chinese name is not the worst out there o.O

Lol it's not like they don't show her face though. I think people are smart enough to connect the name with her face in the CMs. It would just be a big problem elsewhere when her face isn't shown or for conversation's sake. In the end I guess it's just a culture thing. BQB...I just noticed if you rearrange the first letters around you get BBQ lololol.

Now that I think of it...Bun Kei Bo and Bin Qi Bu are ugly. XD I wonder what Ayu thinks of those names. =P

Anyways no matter where I am I will always call her Hamasaki Ayumi. I don't think I'll call her by her chinese name anytime soon, even when going to a chinese speaking country.

Haha you might be forced to depending on how knowledgeable the local population is with Japanese music. To me, I think grown-ups who don't really listen to music let alone j-music just know her by "Binqibu" and that she's very famous. It's just quite regrettable they'll never realize just how significant she is or who she is. Words can't do it enough justice. I know it's like this with my parents. They just know her by her Chinese name and that she's a singer. They've never even heard her songs but they say she sings very well. I'm not saying she can't...but it's like, how do you say that without even hearing her first. According to my intuition they most likely will not like her at all because their taste in music is radically different. I just want people to know the true singer Ayumi Hamasak without any veils; this is part of the reason why I think giving her another name just does not do her enough justice.

Haha! Thats true, I will have to depend on the local population's knowledge on Japanese music. I guess I should be lucky that my parents call Ayu, Ayumi instead of Bun Kei Bo. (They call her Bun Kei Bo when I'm in trouble. XD)

O_o Woah... From someone who can't speak Chinese or Taiwanese, her name sounds like the name of a kid's toy. I could imagine the new tricycle, stuffed animal, or plastic air bats in advertisements being called, "BING-CHI-BOO!!!" <---that's what it sounds like. And why do they put so much emphasis on her name? Is it supposed to sound like that, or are they just emphasizing the artist's name?

P.S. Thanks for uploading that.

Yeah I think it's for emphasis and to create a dramatic effect. They do that in all her commercials. Whenever I see it I'm like...please stop doing that. Lol. And you're very welcome.

Yeah! Pretty much! They also know that I love my collection so the first thing they confiscate from me when I get bad grades is my Ayu collection. (Thats when they say "Look at all these Bun Kei Bo CDs...)

I'm from Hong Kong and the pronunciation of "濱崎步" in Cantonese is quite cool!!
But so far I haven't heard anybody(including some from Taiwan and Mainland China) call her "濱崎步" (in Hong Kong)....we all call her "Ayu" since this is much more intimate

^Cantonese? Can you give us a rough syllable by syllable pronunciation? I'm interested to see how that sounds since I've only heard mando.
