Shape of Love was robbed, that song is so underrated.
I'd love to see a performance of it. |

It's the best track on Sixxxxxx, in my opinion. Her vocals are BEAUTIFUL.

I need a place to scream about Hotel Love Songs again so here I am!!
Tbh I feel like I can write an essay about the two jazz performances, especially the next love. Recently I've been rewatching it often and all the Marilyn Monroe allusion, the old-school alluring bar, the dancers' moves, and the lyrics of the song.... All of that were blended in so well into such an epic performance where you can have a proper VISUAL of the song that's demonstrated out thoroughly and effectively to give the audience the true meaning of that song..... I'm in awe. I can't get over how dark/deep Party Queen album was ![]()

Shape of love to me sounds like the love child of Scar and Will. Its so beautiful and soothing and sounds like classic Ayu.

It's a great song. I liked Sixxxxxx quite a bit overall actually, but Shape of Love really stood out to me.

After listening to Miliyah Kato's LIBERTY, I realize how much I've missed Ayu's sixteen/seventeen track album length. Imagine how different A ONE could have been if Ayu had tacked on another four/five tracks (though they probably would have been Sixxxxxx tracks, but it is still an interesting hypothetical)? I enjoyed A ONE, but agree with the over-saturated ballad argument (even if I think her ballad game is strong at the moment).

I really agree here. Or like these two plus "Sweet scar." To me the song is a great example of a type of song I'd expect of Ayu today. Like it sounds like classic Ayu's heart is behind it, but her more mature mind worked on it. It's heartfelt, honest, well-crafted... Just really REALLY solid work.

So happy with all the love for Shape of Love <3 A true masterpiece in among the okay-ness of 2015
Today I was watching RAINBOW (the PV) and realised that in the scene when both ayu's finally meet in the bar, wearing white, the one that was running away cries and the other one wipes the tear out... And that crying scene looks A LOT like the A BEST cover. I had already gotten the message behind the video, but that shot in particular I hadn't noticed. It's so amazing to go through old stuff and still find new (to yourself) things in it! |

I don't mind that ayu does "shows" instead of "concerts," I just kinda wish she alternated between the two. Sometimes I wanna see a show - DOME TOUR was freaking unbelievable - but sometimes I get sick of that and I wanna see Ayumi Hamasaki Performing Her Songs Live which is very different obviously. The only chance anyone's had for that have been like, the early shows of PoM 2011 which she never released, Secret Live which she never released, and her TeamAyu tours which were open only to her fan club members who were physically in Japan (and the 2003 one took 5 years to get even a partial DVD release, which really only got us better quality than the internet stream, no new material because the encore still wasn't included). My favorite tours are the stripped-down and lower-budget ones just because at least I can find Ayu on stage during those... The DVD edits of the bigger shows are AWFUL about this too, because they're edited to show the crowd & dancers more than Ayu... If you skip to a random frame of any Ayu concert, the likelihood that Ayu is visible in it is MAYBE 20-25%.

I think her dancers are talented, but I also think they should be used as a supplementary aspect of her performance, rather than being primary actors. I think A MUSEUM is a fantastic example of this. |

I think the Stadium tour had a good mix of "concert" and "show".
